Ivan Ryabkin and Kurban Limatov could also be solid picks in the 15 range. |

Personally I’m hoping the Rangers pick rolls into 2026 |

A thought on a potential 4-D chess move for the pens.
If Buffalo doesn’t want to spend to the cap, what if we offer sheet Peterka at 9M… it would be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Something we’d happily rid ourselves from for him. |

On this note, there are a few different offer sheet candidates that I would love for us to go after.
Luke Hughes
Mason Mactavish
Fabian Zetterlund

We can't because we don't own our second and it has to be your own picks.
Similarly they shouldn't give up their own first because it's too high.
I'd only out our third in play for an offer sheet this year. |

Some info:
We plan on being aggressive this offseason. We looked heavy into JJ Peterka. The goal is to get some young impact players such as Peterka and Pavel Zacha.
The Rangers pick didn't have a lot of value this year so there wasn't much in the terms of it being shopped.
Dubas loved the aggression by STL so don't be surprised if we go after some RFAs in the next few years especially with our surplus in picks. Or be aggressive in trading for young talent.
Free agency we are looking at players in the 27-30 range. Boeser is someone to keep an eye on. |

Draft will be before any offer sheets are sent out so it’ll be next (2026) years draft picks.
Too bad for the pens it’s not Gavin McKennas year. He’s a franchise changer and will 100% be the #1 pick without question next year.
I think he’s better than Bedard was at the same age. On a 36 game point streak and has something like 85 points during it. |

Zacha will be 28 come offseason not sure I’d consider him young. If we’re going after him in FA, I’d rather sign Marner with the higher ceiling. |

I am hoping for Marner as well. I am definitely not a fan of Boeser nor Zacha. Then again we need some backup options as well. |

I like Zacha as a 3C or 2C if Malkin is moved to wing IF we get a legitimate impact player like Marner to really put us in a position to kick the can one more time. Zacha as the main piece to try to get us competitive again doesn’t work for me. |

Friedman saying some interesting things during the Leafs/Avs intermission. Nucks wanted a 1st for Boeser and couldn't get it. Leafs asked Marner to waive his NTC to go to Canes and he declined. |

Sounds like the medicine here is to buy Marner, Zacha, and Boeser all in free agency. It seems like a reasonable expectation and Dubas probably should be fired if he can’t do it |

Got it my mistake. I still don't think I'd do the first right now with the potential for the Pens to still be really bad, but I'd be open to using their second and third like St. Louis did. |

That's some massive news on Marner. So the Leafs have pissed off Marner and the Bruins insulted Marchand... The stars are aligning for us! |

If there was any hesitation, it would be for this.
The draft will be telling. So will FA. Will we sell EK? Who do we target? Offersheets? |

Trevor Zegras has more FM than Bryan Rust. Kind of (frank)ing embarrassing. Giant blemish on a pretty good career. Like, you were never that emotionally invested in your career that you dropped the gloves? |

If I was Dubas, and I had a bit of spite, I'd offer sheet Knies for $6.6M, max term and then sign Marner in FA. I think Knies is a stud.
I think a double offer sheet vs Winnipeg would be interesting. Villardi at $6.6M and Samberg at $4.4M. Winnipeg has tons of cap space to afford re-signing both but does cash flow become a problem? They have Ehlers to re-sign too. The weak CAD has to be hurting them badly.
If you wanted to gamble you could offer McTavish $9M but he might not end up a 1C and Anaheim has plenty of cash to resign.
Bouchard, Peterka, Dobson & Byram are all good options. Watch Dobson if Dubas is looking to get one over on Lamoriello. If we trade Karlsson at the draft that is one I could see happening. The Isles were rumored to be shopping him at one point... So they may let him go on a big offer sheet. |

Zegras is starting to grow on me. I actually like his effort and he seems to go out and do it all. He has been hitting more, fighting, he can score. He goes into the dirty areas which he didn't do. |

He has probably received a reality check from his agent. No one has been willing to part with anything of value for him. He has had back to back seasons at less than .5PPG and he is going into a contract season.
In terms of trading for him, what's a .5ppg player with a $5.75M cap hit worth? I'd definitely give up a 2nd & 3rd for him. But I wouldn't be trading away either of our 1sts.
McGroaty & one of our 2nds next year? |
