I didn't see that. It wouldn't surprise me, as much as I think it's completely the wrong thing to do.

Luckily Staple's been wrong before. Maybe L&M have a bet going to see how long it takes us to put up another billboard.

Staying out of Lou's way has worked so well. Can we all work for Ledecky and Malkin?

I agree with the meat of the article but the Hockey Writers have some of the worst written articles I’ve read in my life. It’s like they have ten year olds writing their sh!t.

Why would Duclair or any other player respect Patrick when Lou has undermined Patrick? The GM needs to have the coaches back. Maybe Patrick spoke to Duclair privately and did not see the results and Patrick finally blew up over and his issues with Lou adding to things.

There’s a lot of what if’s with this. It’s not often a player is allowed a leave of absence without a family situation, or substance abuse issue. It’s like they had a fight behind closed doors and to make it go away they say it was positive and Anthony is gonna take some time to reflect. How long does that go for? Does he get paid?

It's very weak if Duclair is leaving because his feelings got hurt. He should take it like a man and admit Patrick was right. This sport can use another lockout.

Not Lou’s fault, but what you’re left with is a player he brought in to add much needed LW scoring…..and said player missed most of the season with injury and is now allowed to take a leave of absence??

Patrick has to take blame if he wanted Duclair brought in, but the 4-year contract is on Lou. Duclair moving around constantly does not warrant a 4-year deal. There is so much wrong with this sport and these contracts. It's a problem when the GM is forcing the coach to play certain players, so the GM is not embarrassed. Cappy was lousy, but Garth was trying to be the coach as well. GM's need to focus on the roster and let the coach do the coaching.

Season's pretty much over, but it's still crazy to me that Duclair takes a sizable contract here and then pulls an Avatar while the team is still at least acting like it has an outside chance.

It's a horrible look UIF. Team was good enough to give him a 4-year deal. I get Duclair was hurt, but if you are in the lineup you need to produce and give a solid effort.

Deangelo might be our best D man 😂

And I hope ovi gets his record tonight at home. Already tied 99. Maybe an empty netter.

Nope. It was predetermined at birth that Ovechkin would break Gretzky's record against the Islanders.

Anybody with tickets to Sunday’s game should sell them. Ticket prices are crazy.

Wow, color me shocked they won when it doesn’t matter anymore. So (frank)ing typical.

For the time he has been here I would say best offensive Defenseman. The D side of his game is mid at best. However, if he can consistently post points I would overlook that.

Trying to wrap my hand around the whole Duclair situation. Call me a dinosaur, but I see no issue with a Coach calling out what are to be key members of a team. Duclair had no reservations signing his deal.

This whole you hurt my feeling stuff...is a bunch of crappola

There should be nothing wrong with it. If Duclair is not healthy enough to play, he should not be in the lineup. If you are playing you have to produce. If not offense, you better play defense. The problem is Lou does not want players he signed to lousy contracts sitting because it will embarrass him.

Well than he needs to stop signing players to crappy contracts and he will won't be embarrassed. GM's always complain about contract amounts and lengths. Yet they are the ones that drive the market. Set the bar. If they all held their ground, things would be much more reasonable. However, you add in Owners that do not care and want what they want. Then Bingo! You have a crappy contract that just set the bar for the next guy.

Then, 30 years ago, on April 5, 1995, GM Don Maloney made a trade that made my stomach turn. He traded Turgeon and defenseman Vladimir Malakhov to the Montreal Canadiens for Habs' captain Kirk Muller, defenseman Matthieu Schneider, and forward Craig Darby.

Hands down one of the top five (5) worst Islander trades ever made.
