I’ll say it again, Lou will decide what he wants to do. I have zero faith the owners are going to do the right thing here.

It's unheard of for someone Lou's age to still want to be involved and especially when the team is not close to winning a Cup. No idea how ownership can be happy with the money Lou has spent on many of these players. Only with the Islanders we get stuck with these GM's.

I believe, for better or worse Ledecky and Malkin have full faith in Lou. There seems to be an inability to look past the good he did in the past and understand the negative impact he’s having now.

Ledecky and Malkin do not need to be hockey experts to know something is not right. I have to think attendance has taken a hit. The fact this is a vet team and not a young inexperienced team and it's not very difficult to make the NHL playoffs should tell the owners everything. What is in Lou's mind that he cannot imagine stepping away at this point?

Based on the last few years, I might have to agree with you on this. Their respect for what Lou has done throughout his career has hampered their ability to see that he is no longer effective.

For some people this is their life. Right or wrong that cannot let go. Lou's thought process is that he does not want to wear plaid pants with a white belt. That he does not want to eat dinner at 4 pm. That he does not want to ride the senior citizen bus, play bingo and eat pudding. Ownership needs to step in an say it is time.

Sign me up for some of these things.

Sometimes you have to take the keys away. You need to run this team as a business. The Pats said goodbye to Belichick. I think the Islanders can say goodbye to Lou.

Lou has constructed a roster that resembles a kangaroo straight.

There are 31 teams that have a leading scorer that site higher than the Islanders. While it is unrealistic to tear down the entire team hard decisions need to be made.

Horvat and Lee are the only players to break 50 pts. That means 18 other starters are far below. Horvat sit 92nd overall in league points. Lee sits 104th.

Palms, Holstrom, JGP are the only players to break 40 pts. That means 3/4 quarters of your lineup is below 40 points. 75%

Dobson and Tsyplakov are the only players to break 30 pts. That means 13 starters are far below the expected norm.

Sorokin site 29th among goalies with 2.77. Sits 5th amongst games played. Sits 10th amongst most wins.

Only 3 players are in line to play all 82 games.

To further look at the progression of this team. 32nd on the power play. 27th on the penalty kill.

Questions moving forward who stays and who goes.

Lou - Almost definitely staying.
Roy - Will probably get fired.
Assistant Coaches - Will be kept.
Scouting Staff - Will be kept.

Horvat - Will be kept.
Lee - Should be traded and a new captain appointed.
Barzal - Should be a trade consideration.
Palms - Will be resigned.
JGP - Should be traded.
Holstrom - Will be kept.
Tsyplakov - Will be kept.
Casey - Should be traded.
Engvall - Should be bought out or traded.
Duclair - Depends on what happens with Roy.
Maclean - Will be kept.
Gatcomb - Will be kept.
Fasching - Kept as depth.
Martin - Retires or signs elsewhere. Hinging on retirement.

Dobson - Should not be signed to an 8 yr deal but will get it.
Romanov - Will be kept.
Pullock - Should be traded.
Pelech - Should be traded.
Deangelo - Should be signed but will get a better deal elsewhere.
Perunovich - Kept as depth.
Reilly - Signs one year deal

Sorokin - Will be kept.
Varly - Should be release or bought out. Not reliable to stay healthy.
Hogberg - May be kept as depth.
Islanders should be looking for a legitimate backup.

It is going to come down to the Owners. Bottom line. If they do not make the right decisions this off season it is going to hurt for a long time.

Why is Sorokin playing? It makes no sense. Let Hogs finish the season.

Even better, play Lennox, or whatever his name is. This game is utterly meaningless. The Islanders are eliminated from the playoffs. The Devils are guaranteed 3rd place in the Division.

It's time to tank.

The Isles have an opportunity to move up in the draft.
Horvat scoring is not a good thing.

It doesn't matter that much. Lou will trade it away.

Probably. But the higher the pick, presumably the better the return.

Meh, a spot or two won't make much difference where their at. Besides, I don't trust Lou to get maximum return.

On the bright side you can get a discount on a Solo Stove:

I'm starting to wonder if that's the way to get the most profit. Why else would an owner put up with it.

Not with this market or fanbase. They aren’t easily amused. Already seeing the attendance drop. Lou will try to piece meal a team through trading futures. Owners will just let him do it. By the time he’s done pile driving this teams future the owners will have to deal with a long drought of any semblance of a competitive team. Then they’ll really feel the pain. They aren’t willing to rip the bandaid off and Lou is all to willing to keep the charade going.

If the question is not whether or not Lou will be back for another season. The question then has to be asked of Ownership as to why is this acceptable. Why would or the Ownership accepting mediocrity?

I understand Ownership not wanting to fire a GM or a Coach after one non-successful season, but the last three years have been anything but a success. Furthermore, I have always been outspoken about trading draft picks for legitimate proven NHL talent. However, this team has a few solid prospects entering the system that I am afraid Lou might trade off before they become successful here. In the same voice I have also said there needs to be balance.

While we all are pointing at Lou, Ownership is just as responsible for the direction of this team at this critical point.

Ownership is responsible for every, single, thing, in regard to this organization. Lou is just an extension of ownership that operates under their discretion.

We need Kevin Connolly to get together with his rich friends and buy this team.

I'd greatly prefer Steve Cohen to that little dildo. And to pretty much anyone else. Not that it'd happen, but a girl can dream

I'll allow this. Is Kevin a bad guy?
