Comcast has erred by hitching their wagon to the legacy of Snider and all the hanger-ons that are still around. They’ve simply outsourced it to these folks and trust they know the brand and what to do. There are no more excuses. They’ve gone down every avenue from these Snider hangers on and all to the same result.
Time to cut ties with all of them and realign. - StepfordSam
This is really it in simplest terms. They need a max exodus and just start buying good hockey minds from small markets.
I don’t even know want ex Flyers in the booth or on the intermission report anymore. It’s all so incestuous. |

What Flyer from the 70's and 80's is giving advice to the team?

it true, it true
And honestly for those that are both Hockey and Football fans in this city for the same city teams....you may not remember that the Eagles didn't used to be the legit best run organization in major professional sports. I grew up for Decades worshiping, then DEALING with Al Davis. Jerry Jones has followed suite and, honestly, whilst not as bad Snider was similar towards the end.
I never liked the scenario of a new, first time GM put up with Keith Jones as President....AND I LOVE KEITH JONES! He's a treasure.
I think these guys (DB and Jonsey) can do it...I do think so. Hilftery is legit not even anything relevant.....the major mistake this whole company made was keeping Torts.
He needs to go. Briere and Keith Jones were players..yeah they both have that old school mindset...but I really do think they both have a high level knowledge of this league and what it takes to win. JT does NOT. Hilferty and the TOP TOP TOP brass kept him because the other two were so green. that was a huge mistake. they need to remedy it. |

Maybe add in the Oakland/Sacramento/Vegas A's - corduroy
The Minnesota Timberwolves should be at the top of that list.

None directly but if you think there’s any other reason Jonesy and Briere are running the show right now you are 100% delusional. |

The advisors when Briere seeks their opinion at a minimum. Which he says he does.
Barber is Hillerty's right hand man.
Dave Brown still a scout? |

The Flyers are not going to tear it down because doing so fails much more than it succeeds, and honestly its not necessary. The Flyers are now the 5th youngest team in the league, and in the past two years have moved on from Provorov, Walker, DeAngelo, Hayes, Atkinson, Frost, Farabee, Laughton and Kuzmenko. I think this is enough of a tear down at this point. Now it’s time to build a better team back up, and the Flyers have the draft capital and cap space to do it. - jd250
That’s false. Tearing it down is how you rebuild if the rebuild is through the draft. It is the only way. With the new nhl it’s the only way to do a true rebuild. While yes it’s not guaranteed to work but the reason is because EVERYONE does it and not EVERYONE can win. So saying it fails MORE. Than succeeds is stupid. If you look at the bottom 5-7 teams in league almost all have rebuilt or are rebuilding the correct way. None of those teams are crying for a 1c and 1d and starting goalie. They ALL have much much more elite and or high end talent than flyers do. Flyers have mm. That’s it. Plain and simple. They can have all the picks they want. If none are top 5 it’s unlikely they will catch up in the talent pool. |

They have a boss. If you still think Homer and barbet still have pull you are delusional.
So again what former flyer from the 70s and 80s is telling them what to do |

enter this: are clarke, barber and holmgren still flyer advisors into your google machine
As of March 12, 2025, Bob Clarke, Bill Barber, and Paul Holmgren are still senior advisors for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Bob Clarke:
A Hall of Famer and former Flyers player, Clarke continues to serve as a senior advisor.
Bill Barber:
Another Hall of Famer and former Flyers player, Barber also holds a senior advisor role.
Paul Holmgren
While he stepped down as President of the Flyers, he remains with the team as a Senior Advisor.
Their Impact:
These three former Flyers greats are considered "at the heart" of Comcast Spectacor CEO and Flyers Chair & Gov. Dan Hilferty's mission.

Anyone else see the report that it was the flyers who were insistent on the leafs prospect in trade for Laughton? Yeah not minten or Cowan who are widely considered way much better prospects. Their scouts fell in love with his personality. Lmao. Oh a marketing jackpot. (frank) the 1st round pick back checks forechecks paychecks is the homerun CUMcast was looking for in Laughton trade. A bottom 6 grinder with personality not players likely to play top 6 with upside |

And Frost still never really made it out of the doghouse and was quickly traded away.
At the end of the day York just isn't Torts' cup of tea and he's never gonna have the best opportunity to succeed as long as Torts is here. - Tomahawk
What more opportunities does he need? He's playing to pair mintes with Sanheim

Do you have proof of that? Only Buffalo has failed using this approach, while many..Florida, Tampa, Colorado, Edmonton appear to have done ok. |

Hilferty is an idiot, but just because google says something, it doesn't mean it is necessarily true. Bill said many times that they are all pretty much retired. Yes, they were heavily involved years ago, but they are in their 70s now and I doubt they are as active as some on here like to assume. If they are, then Hilferty is a bigger idiot than I think.

I don't buy this argument. These are professional athletes, they don't need to be babied. I'll be you anyting York knows he is not playing very well already, he just doesn't like the embarassment of being benched. Too bad! If he doesn't want to be benched, he needs to step up his play big time. If I was making the decisions on the Flyers, I would look to trade York this off season versus extending him, even on a bridge deal. - jd250
That is exactly what coaching is...Torts is out of line as usual. The sooner they can his as$, the better.
How you can defend this crap with statements like "It's just torts being Torts". No other coach does what he does, and there is a reason for it. It's counter productive.
Good on York for going public...multiple players have stated this, and the trend is there.

Well, you said they would not make any trades...zero, nada, zilch for gutless Danny. They traded the Room....can't you at least be happy about that? Laughton is a 3rd/4th liner who has been a part of a losing team for years. I'm glad we got anything for him at this point.
