The Nashville pick could be interesting. That is a team that needs to win and a 1st rounder is not exactly a huge help. With the contracts they have and the players that they signed, could you offer your own 1st in a package alongside maybe York.
I thin k the Nashville pick could be in play - J35Bacher
I’m willing to bet any amount Nashville DOESNT trade pick. |

I don’t think the playoffs are really the goal for the FO. I think the appearance of the possibility of getting into the playoffs is the goal. They want to look competitive to keep up fan interest for much of the season and then move out talent near the end of the season with the hopes of being able to drop low enough to get a valuable pick. - Dkos
Was that the plan last year? Because they didn’t do that. If that were the case wouldn’t they have moved more pieces at this tdl? |

Been MIA b/c of MLJ but it seems he's MIA so i'm.....BIA?
Alot of my favorite teams' Super Bowl is the draft so this time of year I guess I now need to be excited about the potential for a top 5 pick!!!
That Martone kid seems so fun. If he goes to Pitt i'm gonna be bummed.

Do you really think Hagens is having a down year? Or is it just that a few of the other players have just really made huge leaps?
A PPG average as a freshman is pretty good and he was lights out (IMO) at the WJC. I would be overjoyed if they were in a position to draft him. - MBFlyerfan
Well, he is going to be compared to Celebrini's year at BU last season. Probably not fair, but when potential #1 picks do not dominate consistently in their draft year, they usually get over evaluated. Hopefully, that works in the Flyers favor.

If what you are stating is true why weren't moves made (outside of walker) last season. They resigned all of their pending UFAs and extended tk, when he alone could have brought in a nice haul
Picking in the teens dos not move the needle to acquire elite talent |

Anything is possible, but I believe more likely they would take a prospect who is closer to NHL ready like Martone or even Frondell. Right now, the consensus looks like Schaeffer #1 followed by probably Misa, maybe Hagens. Hagens is likely to get the Shane Wright treatment and get picked apart because his draft year has not been great.
My concern with the Flyers is potentially only focusing on the need to draft a center. By chance, Eklund or Martone could fall to the Flyers and be on the board. I hope they would not bypass those prospects because they need a center and O'Brien is still on the board - Trox88
100% 💯 hilly drafts center. To push narrative and marketing campaign just like last year. This team has no idea how to build a team. They will reach and we will see a few years from now another ranty type winger emerge that was taken a few picks later that was likely to happen but the stooges were busy trying to suck off CUMcast priorities than build an actual team |

If they win the lottery go Misa (I can't not just go full on INTEGRITY and hear the bass part in my head) over Schaefer....i'm gonna be kinda bummed. If they, for whatever reason, have the opportunity to draft Martone or Hagans tho.....and pick Hagans. I'm gonna be SUPER pissed off. They need to learn from 2017. I understand your concern.

I haven’t researched as much as normal this year and haven’t followed these players as much this year as I normally do. Maybe due to fact philly has soured me so much. So I probably won’t have much opinion as far as who should and all that this year.
What I do know is I’m fairly confident Philly will make huge mistake no matter what because they have continued to show ineptitude with their base thinking. Tk extension… passing on buium…. Etc etc etc leaves me feeling blah |

Random question if the Flyers are picking 1st overall do they take the defenseman or do they go center - SlNlSTER
Tank-a-thon has them picking Schaefer, which I thought was interesting. I think they would take Hagens. |

Didn’t know he was in Lehigh. I’m not worried about moving needles. With or without him I’m expecting losses for the rest of the season. I’ve seen what 44 has to offer. It would be more interesting seeing Smith. - Dkos
I got to tell you, I can't stand ND and what he represents. But he actually has not looked bad the past couple of games. When nobody wants to fight him, it seems to energize him, but as soon as he fights its like cutting Samsons hair....Or maybe I'm just delusional |

I think he could drop like Wright depending on how the lottery ends up. Right now i think it goes Schaeffer, Misa, Martone. After that their could be some fluctuation depending what teams are there. McQueen I could see going higher with his combination of Size and Skills. Frondell and Desnoyers seem to be rising. All it takes is one team to go off the board.
Big thing is FLyers need to get as close to 4 as possible. - J35Bacher
I agree because I think the Flyers have the assets to move up a couple of spots. They have the picks and they could dangle York which would be hard for a team to pass up if they are also getting the Flyers 1st round pick. |

Tank a Thon just goes by its rankings. The players picked are always the same no matter who is drafting first.

No it doesn't actually, if you play with it you will see it picks players based on what it thinks the team needs. For example, when Buffalo moved up to 1 they picked Misa first overall. |

Really? Thanks for the heads up. I do think they should take Schaefer if they somehow by some miracle get the 1st pick.
Because, Schaefer is the, one D to have, when you're having more than one....pick in the 1st round.
edited to add: It looks like the only team they switch is for Buffalo. The orders remain the same otherwise. |

Size is overrated IMO but a team that already has a major size deficit moving forward taking a 5'11 C with a 1OA pick seems questionable.
Michkov, TK, Luchanko, Brink and Hagens in your top-6? With York and Andrae playing behind them? Not sure that's gonna get you very far. |

I feel like there’s always a let down after he fights too. I guess ND is the better player, but at this point what’s the difference? I didn’t realize Smith was with the Phantoms. I just thought it might be interesting to see what he’d do. I’m just bored. |

I always thought MLJ was Bill just to drive clicks on his articles lol. I can probably count on one hand the times the two of them weren’t on the exact same page.
He’s probably hand writing Bill letters on the daily until the new site launches. |

Again, rebuilding teams do not resign plugs on expiring contracts - they flip them for draft capital. The flyers did not do that last year - they were fighting for a playoff spot in game 82 of the season -- playoffs were and are always have been the goal - the "rebuild" was lip service nothing more nothing less

Hagens is the Boston College kid, right? I honestly think this front office is done with college kids for the time being.
If they somehow luck out and win the lotto I think it’s 50/50 the D man or Misa. Schaefer is probably considered the better prospect but Misa checks too many boxes for the Flyers. Plus I trust them to develop a center a lot more than I do a D man. Can’t afford any more big draft F ups. |

they did it this year tho? I understand that it's frustrating they didn't make those same moves in years prior.....but they did now. they legit WERE in a playoff push last year. it honestly seems like it was even AGAINST their initiative! everyone else in the Metro sucked SO MUCH that Torts and the team wasn't gonna let up. It was the first year for the front office. I will say they should have done MORE (tho they got rid of Walker, people love to trivialize that because....well, Laughton/Risto) but so many people scream extreme negligence over the last two years and really don't give ANY credit to the deals made because two players weren't traded yet....one just was....and another was resigned (TK).
just because not EVERYTHING was done to strip this team down towards a certain standard to lose and gain better draft capital doesn't mean NOTHING is being done and we're being sold a bill of goods. GMs and owners should be open to criticism and accountability but for (frank)s sake...I see people acting like poop is MALICIOUS!!! like they are TRYING to (frank) over the fan base and just make money.
come on
