Hagens is the Boston College kid, right? I honestly think this front office is done with college kids for the time being.
If they somehow luck out and win the lotto I think it’s 50/50 the D man or Misa. Schaefer is probably considered the better prospect but Misa checks too many boxes for the Flyers. Plus I trust them to develop a center a lot more than I do a D man. Can’t afford any more big draft F ups. - hereticpride
I'm just having PTSD picking the center just because of 2017...but it's NOT the same. There are far fewer red flags and dude really does seem like just a blue chip c prospect. Still....anxiety |

they did it this year tho? I understand that it's frustrating they didn't make those same moves in years prior.....but they did now. they legit WERE in a playoff push last year. it honestly seems like it was even AGAINST their initiative! everyone else in the Metro sucked SO MUCH that Torts and the team wasn't gonna let up. It was the first year for the front office. I will say they should have done MORE (tho they got rid of Walker, people love to trivialize that because....well, Laughton/Risto) but so many people scream extreme negligence over the last two years and really don't give ANY credit to the deals made because two players weren't traded yet....one just was....and another was resigned (TK).
just because not EVERYTHING was done to strip this team down towards a certain standard to lose and gain better draft capital doesn't mean NOTHING is being done and we're being sold a bill of goods. GMs and owners should be open to criticism and accountability but for (frank)s sake...I see people acting like poop is MALICIOUS!!! like they are TRYING to (frank) over the fan base and just make money.

Trading The Room™ was not that big of a deal -- it does not move the needle one way or another they were a below 500 team with the Legend Known As Laughton™®© and will be without him.
I am not going to throw a parade or excuse their previous inaction on the account they traded a 4th line player this year
You do not judge on words, you judge on action, or in this case inaction
Giving tk an 8 year extension is not what a rebuilding team does
The team thinks it's fans are stupid, and by the way the team is defended on this board makes that claim believable |

don't throw a parade for doing your job...I get that. crucifying for a counter action...then don't do that either? yes, I don't agree signing TK was the right move. but you point to that and say "THEY ARE NOT REBUILDING, SEE!!" is a bit of an over reaction.
Briere is not GM of the year. I'm not fully sold he's a great GM but he's gotten rid of players that were issue (DUDE WHO THE (frank) CARES IF TORTS WANTED THEM GONE, THEY SHOULD BE GONE RIGHT????), gotten some assets for some of them, and is obviously targeting a specific timeline in their team building strategy.
DUDE, I don't think these guys are great, and I disagree with some of the moves. But just because Risto is still here doesn't mean Kieth Jones and Danny Briere are trying to pull a fast one on you????

Misa should be the pick. Potential #1C are almost never available in their prime. So far Dobson, Bouchard, Clarke and Power have all be mentioned as possibly available this summer. There is nothing comparable for centers. |

I agree because I think the Flyers have the assets to move up a couple of spots. They have the picks and they could dangle York which would be hard for a team to pass up if they are also getting the Flyers 1st round pick. - jd250
York sucks. You don’t give up a stud for York and a decent player drafted. You aren’t getting into top 4 with pick 6 and York. Get it through your thick skull. Would you give up a top 4 in this draft for pick 6 and York? No. Then why would any other team. Stop dreaming and start hoping for lottery luck |

Dont worry gmdb is going to flip risto and rp and a pick to the kings in the summer for Clarke |

I can and will have conversations about opinions on deals, moves, players etc of the Flyers. I think anyone who carries the "THE FRONT OFFICE THINKS WE'RE FOOLS! THEY ARE TRYING TO SHAM US" shield has little ability to have a conversation about much in life |

Making money is their TOP priority. I don’t see how ANY can’t see that or accept that. Are they PURPOSELY screwing over fans? No. But they don’t care if they do as long as top priority is met.
And they didn’t make moves to rebuild this year as you claim. They could’ve done so much more to gain cap space and open spots if they wanted. They could’ve even moved tk. Maybe they still move some before draft. Highly unlikely tho. |

I always thought MLJ was Bill just to drive clicks on his articles lol. I can probably count on one hand the times the two of them weren’t on the exact same page.
He’s probably hand writing Bill letters on the daily until the new site launches. - hereticpride
I’ve said for years they are 1 in the same for exact reason you listed. No way in hell any person walking face of earth simply disagrees with EVERYTHING like mjl. Was clear it was to drive clicks.
What I always tried to figure out was what does mjl stand for? Best I could come up with was/is
Bill MELTZER….

If you believe that the goal this year and last year was that the team is/was rebuilding the FO thinks that you are a fool. You bought into, you defend it, even though the fact pattern shows that their goal is/was to make the playoffs |

Columbus is starting to turn the corner. All it took was having a top two defenseman in the league and two top 5 center picks in the last 4 drafts.
We are minimal 5 years away from the playoffs if he stays patient which he won’t |

It’s not a matter of he did some things or not some things. It’s a matter of they said rebuild. That was what they were selling. That’s not what anyone that follows hockey would say is rebuilding. Not even in the littlest of things. It screams of a team that has no plan. That doesn’t know what they are doing. It only leaves one logical conclusion. Keep the morons and suckers suckling at the teet of CUMcast and make as much $$$ as they can. By any means neccesary. Make no mistake trading laughts was only because the noise from the mob was too loud to ignore and would likely possibly affect priority 1. Throw in a nothing burger kuz trade and you have a breather from the mob. Nothing more nothing less |

It shouldn’t take 5 years. Suck to get a #1 center and then get to work on everything else. If they get a #1 center is this draft, there is no excuse for this team not to be a playoff team in 2 seasons. |

You think that possible #1 center they draft this year will be that good in 2 seasons?

Good enough to get in the playoffs with NHL average goaltending. The wildcard teams usually stink.
I think the Flyers would have been a playoff team this year with average goaltending and a new coach. |

I think its a stretch that he will be in his second season, more likely he will be a rookie. I just don't see it. They aren't deep enough anywhere else for that to happen IMO.

You are making my point for me. Hardly good enough to be a difference maker on a team with playoff aspirations.
