I just started watching…maybe I’m the problem.

His feet were going, his passes were crisp, he was more aggressive on the puck and spent more time engaging in dangerous areas. Colorado is a very difficult team to play creatively against because they are so fast up and down the ice and they pressure with speed, too. The penalty was the result of a (very) bad play at the line - completely - but the penalty was a better penalty to take. Realistically if our team's PK wasn't sliding down the league, it sure would be a risk you not only could take, but in that case one you should take.

But that PK is trending in the wrong direction:

October 81.8% (10th in month)
November 81.1% (12th in month)
December 81.6% (15th in month)
January 74.2% (20th in month)
February 76.9% (16th in month) - note that most teams only played 7-8 games due to the 4 Nations
March 70% (21st in month) - 4 games so far. . .

Yes Colarado is very good.

The play that caused the penalty was very bad and IMO neither is a risk that should be taken.

It cost the Leafs big time.

So in summary he was not exceptional which was my point.

The Leafs PK needs to be better - agreed.
