15 games to go, can afford to accumulate 11 points at most for a real shot at top 5. Still doable. |

Its such a weird thing. Like people here hate this team so much to want to see it fail yet they keep coming back. Like whats wrong? If you dont like the team, go follow another team, why purposely surround yourself with negativity. Dont like the team move on. I dont see the point in sulking around here hoping for the team to fail miserably

Because the smart fans know that in order for the team improve they first need to fail miserably. |

Sure, losing is in their best interest, but i understand if you’re at the game that you cheer for the team. They spent good money for the tickets and made a night out of it. It’s an event.
They can lose the rest of the games, the fans just want to see them win that particular night that they dog-eared and dropped a few bones. |

They were never going to lose 20 in a row and the goaltending is still garbage. I don’t think they realistically have a chance higher than 6 overall. Hopefully Pittsburgh and the Islanders end up behind them in the draft. Don’t mind if Anaheim jumps the Flyers because they absolutely would take McQueen which the Flyers should stay away from. |

Maybe it’s me but it seems that Poehling has been playing out of his mind since coming back from the concussion. - jd250
Definetly a 1C - he is the kind of center teams build around |

During the game Boucher and JJ were talking about Torts and Briere and what they said earlier or something to that effect. Anyone know what they are talking about or what was said. |

Since his return.
10 games played
1 goal
1 assist
0 +/-
9 shots (3 last night, 6 in last 3 games)
2 pms
averaging about 13 minutes.
He has been playing responsibly but not really moving the needle in any direction. He hasn't been hurting the team and I guess in Ryan Poehling's world that is the best you can do. |

Nah he is playing out of his mind. Both points last night to boot. Just another dime a dozen 4th line player.
To borrow his phrase, maybe it is me though I don't want my bottom pair and 4th line guys making more than 1.5 per year. Unless it is truly warranted. If you are going to overpay for the love of God do it for the higher level players. Every dollar counts when trying to win a cup. Though guess doesn't apply to the Flyers in their current state.
This is where drafting and development need to work. Having guys on ELC or cheap contracts to fill the roster is a big advantage. Flyers just seem to always overpay and rarely win at the margins.

The Flyers haven’t won at the top of the roster in so long it’s hard for me to care about the margins. |

I don’t care about overpaid bottom of the roster players when they havent had actual top of roster players in forever. They haven’t had anyone close to a 1D since Pronger and they haven’t had multiple 1st line talents for perhaps even longer.
I also think the salary cap is overrated on this team. It’s not the salary cap that has prevented this team from being an actual contender and the only cap casualty I can think for the last few decades was Umberger. Blaming the salary cap is just the old guard excusing their incompetence since the cap system was implemented. |

For this rebuild plan to work, the Briere tenure will have to resemble the Homer tenure. Like most tenures, the ending of Homer was not great. However, the work he did to create the roster that made it to the Finals was creative and bold. I'll give Briere credit for drafting Michkov. Michkov was ghosting teams and pretty much selecting the team he wanted to go to do. For whatever reason, he chose the Flyers and they do deserve credit for getting it done. I do believe the Frost/Farabee trade was done to lead to a trade this summer that will significantly change the roster. It will have to play out to see if it works. They will need some of these prospects to make contributions no doubt. |

Well you should care as this is what the Flyers prioritize. They have it backwards. T want all the try hard guys with a sprinkle of MM types. This is how they think they can win despite all the evidence saying they won't.
Incompetence has prevented them form being a contender. |

Who do the Flyers have that other teams will want to significantly change the roster?
Tell me what prospects are legitimately knocking on the door for a spot. Jett may make it by default. He hasn’t blown the doors off anyone.
