When I was at university, we had a nice little family owned pizzeria just down the block. Super nice old couple and their kids. Best pizza I ever had, was fairly cheap (they catered to university students), and I have not had anything that comes close to being that good since.

Like you, might just be a time and a place - the nostalgia of it all.

my dad was a big weekend guy. we always did something on fridays like i mentioned.
when all of us kids got older, my sis anyway so she could "watch" us, the Ps sometimes went out on saturdays and in the summer, sundays were going to the lake

maybe some of that but there were 4 or 5 really good pizza places where i grew up.

Before I went away to university, we only really ordered commercial big store pizza, which seemed good to me then, but now disgusts me... And before we moved to Montreal, in the country / farmlands, there were just no pizza joins.

When we'd visit the grandparents in the city, and they (rarely) decided to order out, was always KFC.

no, it was good. it was the go-to for going to the lake if my dad didn't feel like packing all the poop needed to BBQ.

When I lived in Toronto, there was this late night dinner about a 5 minute walk from our crappy apartment. When we first started dating, Kate was working the late shift at the hospital, so I would go meet her around midnight and we would always walk to the dinner to grab something to eat.... 3-4 times a week.

Such a small place, but such a large menu (they did a lot of take-out business).

Those small family places are special, but getting harder and harder to find now.
