I think this is the real problem fans are having right now, in that we really don't know what the plan is. Do the Flyers want to get their 1C in the draft? Or are they targeting a player in a trade this offseason? Maybe an offer sheet? I have no problem being patient if I know what the plan is, and I totally understand if Briere is keeping it tight to the vest and wants to keep all his options open.
With that said, if the Flyers want Misa, they need to tank hard, and that is not what they are doing. They will probably end up with a top 10 pick in a Meh draft class. But to get a player like Misa or Hagens the Flyers have to be picking in the top 3. We have seen this numerous times, that teams in the top 5 are not trading out of that spot. I recall the Bruins in 2015 had the 13th, 14th and 15th picks and they wanted Hanifan who ended up being selected 5th. The Bruins thought they could trade their picks (in a much deeper draft class BTW) and move up to get Hanifan. They were wrong. Last year Briere tried hard to trade into the top 10, to no avail. In 2023, again in a much deeper draft, Briere tried to trade from 7 to 5 to get Michkov, who he believed would not get past Montreal, and failed. Torts and Briere at least publicly are stating they want to win as many games as possible, and cleary Torts is coaching that way, by keeping veterans in the lineup versus calling up more Phantoms. This makes no sense to me. |

Jett is gonna be good, he is not as big of a reach as you think, I watched a long of gulph games , he definitely the best player on his team, and I can see easy 2 line center ad potentially 1 c - SlNlSTER
Spot on! We might see Jett again this year with the Flyers. |

It has nothing 2 do with the coach, he wanted the flyers to burn a year on his entry level deal, they didnt so he asking to be traded - SlNlSTER
And so far Gauthier is exactly the player I thought he would be, a good NHL winger. He's not a center and I don't see him being a 40+ goal scorer. With that said, he is a having a decent rookie season playing wing and about 14 minutes a game. But he is nothing special. |

The really messed up thing with that Bruins draft is that they could have picked Barzal AND Connor who were taken with the next 2 picks after their 3. They only ended up with one Viable NHL player in Jake Debrusk. Its amazing they were able to overcome that debacle and still be a good team for a while.
I wanted the Flyers to take Connor at 7. Oh well.

Shows what well run organizations are able to overcome even when they make mistakes.

I want the tank, but I will DB has traded away a good bit and not replaced it, we could say play more phantoms but on purpose or not, DB is icing an NHL tweener team. The time to play more AHL players passed earlier this season. Hope they lose as much as possible, enjoy when they don't and see where it goes.

Wonder when the new Russian will play. Still hasn’t played a game yet since the trade. Another odd situation not one reporter brings up. |

It’s really nice that the Flyers apparently want a certain player in the draft. If he’s a legit top three pick, Briere certainly didn’t plan well enough to get him. I hate tanking (players and coaches should always try to win) but the way Briere handled the roster this year certainly doesn’t support his desire for a top three pick. Good luck if he thinks he can trade up from somewhere between 7 to 10 to a top three pick without grossly overpaying. This team simply makes no sense. - mikeyo27
I keep saying we’ve had the same GM for years. Comcast just changes the face. They all have the same mantra so what’s the difference?
Until they realize that hanging onto players you simply do not need in the fall/winter very much affects where you draft in the summer we’re endlessly going to be stuck in this loop. It’s been over a decade of this. I honestly do not understand how people continue to excuse it. |

No issue not calling him up as he is rookie with only 30 something AHL games. |

And Chabot wa also available ... can you imagine if the Bruins picked Connor, Barzal and Chabot what they would have been? Scary. But that's what happens when a team is not focused and prepared for all scenarios. When they couldn't trade up they didn't know what to do. And the Bruins also got Carlo in the 2nd round of that draft. |

Its because like Pelletier and Kuzmenko, he was playing in Canada for the Leafs and getting cleared to cross the border these days is a lot tougher and takes longer. |

I can see a scenario where Briere wants the Phantoms to ice the best team they can to make the playoffs and go on a deep run, to get the experience for the players there. But if that is the case, why is Andrae and Lycksell with the Flyers? They could have recalled Ginning and Gauthier instead. Briere is acting, at least to me, as if he doesn't care where he picks in this draft which means he does not really value the players projected to be at the top of the draft. If that is the case, why? What is the plan? I understand there are no generational players projected in this draft, at least as it is right now (recall Cale Makar was not projected to be the next Bobby Orr either), but there are still a few good centers that can be very good NHL players and maybe one of them breaks through. |

Briere is a putz that’s why. Phantoms in 6th place as can’t wait to see that long playoff run. |
