Bill provided us all with years of the best writing on hb. He deserves to be paid by the flyers organization for his knowledge, writing and efforts. I am not one to protect the media, as a Trumper I absolutely hate the agenda media can have but bill is untouchable to hold anything but high regard for. - GPerogie
I don’t even know where to start with this. |

He's the master motivator, just ask any of the local media. Torts throws everyone except his assistamt coaches under the bus. For maximum effect, he backs the bus back over to make sure. It's just "Torts being Torts" and everyone is just better off for the experience

It’s weird how he and the Flyers front office not so much found each other but maybe how much they deserve each other. |

How did phly sell out - WhiskeyMan
PHLY is the old BSH crew.
They were one of the few that dared to talk about them critically before the switch. Same goes for STG.
As soon as Jonesy got promoted, who clearly was a leaker about the former Camillo regime, and how disrespectful it was to the Flyer family….
Anyway as soon as he started giving both access to interviews, and STG nice seats for games, more access to team staff.
They both sold out, same as Bill. Just like the previous poster said. |

I was surprised by that too. Didn’t think he was still on the radio. - Dkos
He just came back in the last year I think. Was retired for a while. The two sports stations just recycle the same guys over and over and over anymore. |

If I'm Briere, I'm doing all I can to get Torts out of the organization. Torts as HC has plenty of authority right now. I'm curious whether he goes back up in the luxury box and let's his assistants play HC when the team is officially eliminated from the playoffs. Will he be satisfied being a Senior Consultant with no real authority? I am skeptical.

I think hextall had the approach we needed. It was just piss poor drafting on him and his scouts. I believe he wanted to burn it down completely but wasn’t allowed - Just5
The scouts are all largely the same. As is the rest of the staff.
They’ve fired Pryor, Hextall, and Fletcher. The cabal remains. That’s the issue. A few new faces that have connections to Briere in Maine, or Lombardi/Murray don’t mean much.
The scouting was a flaw under Hextall. It very much remains so. They have Giroux, Couturier, TK, and Michkov in the last what, 20 years? As noteworthy players when compared to the rest of the NHL?
Their scouts are abysmal. |

Oh Bill is definitely a company man now. Full stop.
A year or two ago we were (rightfully) really getting on the alumni advisors ruining the franchise one day and Bill finally just snapped because he sees himself as buddies with all of them now.
Been on this site forever. Seen some absolutely batpoop stuff said. Only time I’ve ever seen Bill lose it. His integrity went out the window that day for me.
Pretty much the same story with whatever Flyers writer from the last 15 years you want to name though. It’s pathetic. - hereticpride
I’d be curious to back read that a little hah.
If you’ve got the thread. If not it’s cool, get it’s prob a pain in the ass to search for. |

I hope he’s gone entirely. I think his ego is too big to take any of those retirement home advisor roles that I’m sure Briere will offer him. He probably still thinks he can coach somewhere else. Maybe Utah’s owners haven’t found out he sucks yet lol. |

Unfortunately I don’t. I don’t think it was last summer because I took a longggggg break from the Flyers.
Probably the offseason the year before or whenever the “sell the team” stuff was getting a lot of traction but that’s the best I got. |

what makes you think he doesn't want him? they seem to be in lock step - hello it's me 2050
Just as much as what makes one think Briere wants to work with him. Also, the narrative has always been Torts would be the HC during the rebuild phase, not when they want to be competitive. Pretty sure, Briere has recently stated they want to make the playoffs next season. If that is the case, then it would seem the rebuild HC would not be necessary.
When Torts leaves the bench, what role does he play? Is it a consultant like Bob Murray who gives suggestions and reports to the GM. Maybe. Right now, the HC reports to the Governor directly just as the GM and President of Hockey Ops.

I think the front office would be fine keeping because I’m sure they’d like some stability at HC for a change… but I think Torts went and (frank)ed that all up for himself.
Between Coots last year and now Michkov and York this year he’s had to have lost the room. |

6 points out of a playoff spot says Boucher. He has become intolerable.
Never in my entire life have a seen such a delusional franchise. |
