I've said it before, I'll say it again. I'll never fault a player for trying to get paid while they can. It's a 20 year career tops for almost all players. But he already got a monster contract early in his career. We need more Sidney Crosby and Josh Allen types in Leafland
 - Whipper
Josh Allen signed a $330M contract. But I get your point. If Mitch stays, it’s because he agreed to take a bit less than he could make in free agency |

I really hope Domi proves me wrong in the playoffs, but how is his contract not a turd in the punchbowl for the Maple Leafs? From here it smells like an unforced error, a fragrant and sloppy one in the punchbowl. |

Domi flew completely under the radar because of all the activity and noise leading up to July 1 but Max Domi did something extremely admirable last weekend.
He left money on the table to stay in Toronto. In fact, it’s fair to say he took a ‘hometown discount.’
Rielly
Soon to be…JT
The point is that Marner could still become the most beloved Leaf player of all time, if he took a significant hometown discount - mr.sir
Agreed but I just don't think he will, none of the the 'core' has shown any willingness to do so yet. Maybe it's a Toronto thing and can be linked back to the non cap days when they would just overpay for whomever they wanted (and get the wrong guys and not win cups)?
Feels like only other teams do that (Crosby in Pittsburgh for instance) but god dammit the first big time Leaf player to do it will be a hero. I just don't think it will be Marner and that may force them to overpay or him to leave. |

Yeah, he signed after a very good year. I think he was 10th or so in Norris voting and 6th in points |

Domi setup Pontus Holmberg for two gorgeous tap-in goals yesterday. Holmberg flubbed them both. Frankly Domi has setup his linemates a lot in the last little while and I recall Robertson finishing on a couple, but blowing a bunch more. McMann finishes more, but he's not usually ready for the sneaky passes.
I haven't had a lot to complain about from his work ethic or even his defensive effort. Over the last 20 games he's +3 at 5v5 - linemates McMann (+2), Holmberg (even), Robertson (-2) haven't been as successful.
So I do think he's been better in the second half. Similarly he was better last year in the second half, too.

I believe in Domi still, despite his underachieving season so far. Having said that, I expect more when the playoffs start.
He has Tie-ger blood.

McDavid and Drai both out at least a week. Oilers are in for a bad time. Fortunately, they have Kraken x2 and Calgary next week. Dallas might be a rough one for them. - Whipper

And how many games to I go to?
Less than I used to!
I'll go to about 4-7 this year, would be my guess. Kids eat up some, and occasionally I just can't go. - Atomic Wedgie

He was one of the few Leafs who upped their game in the playoffs last year. If he doesn't wilt like a baby-man in the playoffs every year, I don't care what he does in the reg. season. |

Aaaah, the good old halcyon days of 2020 when Captain Trips ravaged the planet, Tiger King was our collective distraction, and the Lightning told Chicago to hold my beer while they wrote the book on cap circumvention.

I think that if Marner were to take the Nylander contract, he'd be revered. Nylander hit 40 goals last year and might again this year. Something needs to be said about who his line-mates are. That increases the chance of gaining many assists. He also plays special teams that enhances the chance of scoring. Until he gets 100 points in a season, is he really worth more than Nylander?

What if he's actually been playing like a 100 point player for 5 years in a row?
20-21 - GP: 55 G: 20 A: 47 P: 67 - 29 goals / 100 points over 82 GP
21-22 - GP: 72 G: 35 A: 62 P: 97 - 40 goals / 110 points over 82 GP
22-23 - GP: 80 G: 30 A: 69 P: 99 - 31 goals / 102 points over 82 GP
23-24 - GP: 69 G: 26 A: 59 P: 85 - 31 goals / 101 points over 82 GP
24-25 - GP: 68 G: 21 A: 62 P: 83 - 25 goals / 100 points over 82 GP
Nylander, has never been on a 100 point per 82 GP pace, his best was 98 points in 82 games last year.
Stop pretending like Marner is not a 100 point player and that somehow Nylander is comparable. He wasn't. He isn't. And he probably never will be. |

Not Leafs, but my ex had TFC seasons in the supporters' section. When they sucked poop. You couldn't give those tickets away. It was fun ticket if you were a heavy drinker. Every year you get a new pair of those sweet scarves. We had you covered for scarves. I probably still have enough to make a rope ladder from the 6th floor if I had too.
So if I was gonna be a Leafs' seasons holder I'd be excited about the new swag every year. Although for the price they should give you scarves, jerseys, toques, multiple ball caps (for hat tricks), socks and home and away pyjamas and bed sheets. - Zezel
My daughter took a bunch of our Leafs scarves and made me a blanket for Christmas. |

Thanks for the insight - splitting them up amongst others who want 10 games each give or take is a good strategy for sure and the draft to pick games sounds like fun.
I assume you take the home opener every year? I have been lucky enough to be at 5 or 6 and have always enjoyed them.
What do you do come playoffs? I can only imagine the potential issues if there was a game 7 final for the cup in Toronto.....I'd sell my soul to go to that game. lol - Cush29
I’ve been to every home opener but one in the past 30ish years.

I had envisioned season ticket holders going to like 30 games a year. I was actually wondering how that didn't get boring. |
