This is the Toronto Sports Media in a nutshell to me.
On the front page of the TSN site there's a blurb, "Colaiacovo says Blues 'too much to handle' for weary Canadiens".
The first thing I think is that the Habs just played back-to-back, or perhaps 3 in 4 - and yeah, teams wear down. So I looked to see who they'd been playing - and they'd had 3 days of rest since their last game on Saturday.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs were fighting for their playoff lives and went into St. Louis with 3 days of rest and got curb-stomped 6-1, the media would be apocalyptic, not apologetic. - Monkeypunk
That nail - you smashed the poop out of it right on the head with this.

a 10:30pm start time for us as they are in San Jose. - dmnted
Usually I would not be a fan of the super late start, but since I'm going to the Jays Home opener on Thursday and it's a 3pm game I should be home and well oiled by the time this game starts.
I may not make it beyond the 1st period before passing out mind you......lol |

Some Debbie Downers never make an appearance after the leafs destroy a non playoff team.

Or go to great lengths with some mental gymnastics before posting, thinking nobody will remember what they said earlier. lol

I'm willing to give him more time, but yeah, I wasn't really a fan of bolstering the bottom 6 anyways. Is Laughton in over the Yarn Crook really that much of an upgrade? - gravyface
It'll always been an overpay but why not Laughton and Jarnkrok? Really it's going to be Holmberg or Robertson that sits ...plus it gave them another layer of depth for the playoffs pushing Reaves down one further.
Hopefully, come playoff time Laughton is an upgrade over Dewar or Holmberg. |

Tortorella on Laughton: He’s trying to keep his head down & fit in. When he would walk into the room in Philly he would take it over. I hope people are patient with him because it’s a huge adjustment but you’re going to find out what he’s about eventually
tsn.ca/nhl/video/stay…
This is from tortorella yesterday. I think they said he’s still staying in a hotel too. I’m sure it’s just a big adjustment but hopefully he can settle in come playoffs. |

The Pens goaltending is pretty bad. They need to do something so Sid doesn't feel like staying was a mistake. He probably should have pulled a Marchand and GTFO. - GalacticStone
Sid wants to pass Mario...and likely Steve Y. He'll be fine. |

I think it’s really important to Sid to only ever be a Pen but who really knows the desire for another cup may push him to leave before he hangs em up.
If he ever left though I imagine it wouldn’t be to the Habs 🤮 just because he grew up a Habs fan and they are building now. The timing could be perfect for said to be the late addition in his twilight years veteran leader to push them to a cup.
You know like the Leafs kept trying to do except with guys who never won a cup. Lol.
And I liked Marleau as a Leaf and LOVED jumbo Joe. - Cush29
Marleau was also at best a 3rd liner with PP time when they got him, Jumbo was a 4th liner with PP time and Spezza was a 4th liner with PP time. Anybody who gets Crosby is getting a guy who is still going to break Gretzky's PPG a season record unless he randomly decides to suck.
Whatever juice OV and Crosby are taking to keep performing is something malevolent. |

You really want to spend another year of every game he plays is them talking about how he is "xyz" away from hitting it? It's going to happen. Quite frankly I hope he does it in his next game so every other article isn't about it. |

I wasnt a big fan of the trade when it happened due to it beingan overpayment...and im really holding out final judgement until the playoffs.
But
Damn, that Laughton trade looks so bad right now.
Hoping that changes in the playoffs. - Fakepartofme
I am hoping he shows up a little more.
Carlo seems to be fine. Laughton doesn't need to do much, just settle and be okay. Hope he gets around to it.

Again, why would the Toronto sports media care about a habs loss vs a Toronto loss?
Of course they are going to be more dramatic about the Toronto loss. Specially the leafs, who havent seen the 3rd round in decades.
Not sure what the complaint is |

Brings nothing good to the game.
Sit him unless there's an injury.
Last night's line up was the best way to assemble the players IMO. |

I'm kinda with Mr. French on this one about Ovi. He's gonna break it. That's a foregone conclusion unless he gets hit by a bus in the street tomorrow. Just get it over with already. I'm tired of it popping up in my hockey feed.
Wayne Gretzky will always be the GOAT of hockey. Ovi will be the undisputed greatest goal scorer of all time. A legendary sniper. But he'll never match Wayne's all-around prowess and dominance. The Cup count ends all debate.
Heck, I'd put Ovi behind Super Mario as well. |

There is no anger.
Just seems like a captain obvious post. "Toronto sports media not as dramatic with non Toronto teams results" Yup.
Replace Toronto in the sentence with any other city and the sentence remains true. Media of said city scrutinizes local sport team more than non local teams. Yup, that checks out....everywhere. |

Yup, need a new story line for next season....like can the leafs repeat as cup champions?
OV will pass gretz goal totals for sure, just do it this year.
Maybe next year we can also talk about if ov can get another 1250 assist to pass a couple more gretz records |
