Good to see the “not the right way” post nice and early to tell us all how much the Leafs suck when they are up 2-1. 🙄

Two fluke goals from the Leafs.

Let's see if they earn this W or they coast the rest of the night.

well, they still count don't they?

Absolutely. But we've seen this team throw away plenty of bigger leads the last 10 games. They got lucky, now they have to earn it the rest of the way.

Truthfully we need them to get used to being right _there_ for the next three months instead of trying to make nice plays or "great shots" from 20 feet further back.

Philly is sort of making it too easy to just be there - so we'll see if they're willing to do it when it's harder to do - but the fact that we're seeing a lot of bodies get to the net is a good thing.

I prefer my team to be good over lucky.

Every team needs a bit of luck but it can't be relied upon for 16 playoff wins.

Like I detailed for you not long ago, the last 10 games have shown a lot of bad habits from the Leafs. They got some luck and now it's time they earn the W the next 2 periods and do the opposite of what they've been doing lately.

Yes indeed but when the opposition makes it easy for the Leafs, that's exactly when they take their foot off the gas.

The goal they allowed was also sloppy garbage that won't fly in the playoffs.

Ewww saw the slow mo replay on the goalie interference and I’m not sure anymore.

The contact did occur in the blue paint which I think makes me lean towards it being goalie interference but it’s a tough one and I can see the argument as to why it’s not.

The only plausible argument for me is that Merzlikins pushes him - but he does so after Palmieri contacts him - completely for no reason - in the blue. Simply put - unless you are playing a puck that's in the crease, you can't touch the (frank)ing goalie. You can't. I'm sick of people ignoring that little rule. Palmieri had no reason to make that contact there - but it would have been fine if the shot weren't coming at that time. It distracted him just enough that he wasn't playing the shot.

It's not me arguing with you here, it's me arguing with all the people who think that should count. Unless the NHL wants to change the rules to make the goalie fair game in his crease, that has to be an area that is only negotiable if a net front battle is happening between an offensive player and defensive player leading to incidental contact - but if you go in on your own, all bets are off.

Yep!

To me if anything the take away should be “don’t over pass looking for the pretty goal - shoot the (frank)ing puck at the net and good things happen”. Especially if guys get into those areas that are tough to be in!

Playoff style.

Fair and for the record I’m still of the opinion it’s goalie interference. Personally I don’t think ANY contact with the goalie should be allowed IN THE BLUE PAINT - full stop.

I was more interpreting this based on how it seems they call this now (which I hate) which seems to factor in the following :

Where did the contact occur?

Did the goalie have time to “reset” which to me is total BS as a goalie because you’re still mentally scrambling in many cases.

Who initiated the contact? Again which I think is BS. As a goalie if someone is cutting into MY crease then sure I may initiate contact to try and minimize how it impacts me. Plus it’s “my crease” to protect.

Anyhow in today’s NHL and with the inconsistency in how almost everything is called or is called or not called I can totally see how this one is fairly controversial.

On a totally different note - and just because they brought it up on this broadcast - I don't get why everyone is so upset about that goal being waived off between the Islanders and Columbus.

For reference https://x.com/i/status/1904356689140240506 . . Palmieri makes contact with the Jackets goalie at the edge of the blue putting him slightly off balance as the shot comes. I don't know but that's been goaltender interference all along hasn't it?

- Monkeypunk

Because it clearly wasnt interference. Goalie went out of his way twice to push the player who really wasnt in his crease. The goalie then had time to set up but moved in the wrong direction.

As a former goalie, im so tired of how sensitive the league is with goalies.

Except he really WAS in the blue paint and that’s where the contact occurred.

To me the argument is all about if the goalie had time to and did reset and I can see people looking at it and saying he did but clearly the officials / review room felt the goalie didn’t.
