Pretty much by Thanksgiving there will be a revolt from the players. I doubt Briere lets the dumpster fire go into next season with the ticket price increases.

I would be surprised if Torts survives at this point, but a real shot at McKenna, who knows. There is no way they can trade away their own '26 1st rd pick, that would be malpractice. So the ability to make a big trade will be really limited.

Mangiapane - so lets sign another 29 yo to a 7 year deal, only this time a very average player. At least Couturier and TK were coming off several good years. He is already declining, but the Flyers refuse to acknowledge the present, live in the past all the while destroying their future.

Let's flip the coin and look at it from his perspective. why would he want to come here? Much like our other 2 albatross contracts - for the money. He does not care about winning a SC, which is his prerogative; but that is not a winner's mentality.

2007 - 2nd overall JVR (finished last but lost lottery to Chicago)
1975 - 1st overall Mel Bridgman (won cup but traded for 1st overall)

History would suggest the Flyers don't know how to tank, yet they've been the third most successful team since 1967 expansion in terms of wins. Given how difficult it is to trade your way to success in a cap world, the Flyers need to rebuild through the draft in the worst way.

The ultimate goal is to be a Filip Forsberg. Goodish offensive player (the kind that struggles when defensive coverage gets tough, like from Feb onwards, esp. in playtoffs). Most importantly, sound defensively.
