I guess that is part of the learning process.

For several years, they were mailing it in the last few months of the season. Taking care of yourself, learning to manage aches and minor injuries, to last the full 82-games + playoff games is something a lot of these guys are doing for the first time.

I'm surprised a guy like Hutson has not flat out fallen over from exhaustion, given he has never played this much hockey in a season.

Habs still have about a 47% chance to get in.

tks Hugo,
I'm with you, way too easy to blame the goalies. not that they could not be better, but far from being the main issue

Sort of agree/disagree, but on another level.

Dobes has done OK since being called up, but on a playoff bound team, he is not an ideal back-up, especially in important back-to-back games.

The Habs needed someone more reliable, with some experience, to back up Monty. It looks like he will be playing 62-63 games this season (depending how long they are in the chase), where he should be closer to 50, if they want him fresh for the playoffs.

The managing of goaltending has been one of the few weak points in the HuGo era.

agreed on the last part.
to me Monty and Dobes (even if they're not the ideal duo) have done well enough, not their fault their defensive system is poop and the team doesn't have a 2nd line.

also, beside skating really fast, what does Newhook bring exactly?
can't win a faceoffs, can't score, doesn't hit or play with grit...
so... at best a 3rd line winger. at the very best.

Well they made the decision to trade the reliable, veteran backup last season because they thought Primeau was ready. To be fair, most did think it was the right thing to do.

Dobes wasn't supposed to be in the NHL this season, he's not an ideal backup but he did well enough for a rookie goaltender imho and was the best option we had.

Primeau is frustrating. He can be excellent in the AHL, at time capable int he NHL (not great, but decent), but more often than not, he is a disaster.

Wonder what they do over the summer with their goalies.

over the past decades MTL fans have been used to see top goalies... they forgot what a regular #1 goalie looks like.
watch other games, other teams... you'll see that Monty/Dobes are not the issue.

nothing at all imo.
Fowler could join Primeau in Laval but that's about it.
don't forget, this is a team halfway through its rebuild.
