Ty Yorkie

Gutsy effort with Demko holding the fort til they found the back of net. Lose to the Rags after heavy domination & bounce back since. Good sign no matter how it’s sliced. The group is finding their old identity after tons of turmoil. Resilience & never quit goes a long ways. Fans will always back a team that plays this way of late. RT hockey

Why would we ever want him back. I get some get the warm and fuzzies but we were absolutely terrible with him. Yeah we had miller petey and bo and we were terribad. If I'm him there's no waybi waive for Van regardless. Just assuming he has a ntc

From Dayal:

It’s ironic that the Canucks got solid contributions from their second and third pairs considering how problematic and borderline unplayable Vancouver’s bottom-four defence was during the first half of the season, when they lacked foot speed and puck skills. It was painful watching the bottom-four blueliners attempt to break the puck out. They were black holes offensively. Things were so bleak that Erik Brännström looked like a saviour at one point.

Since then, Marcus Pettersson’s acquisition has stabilized the second pair. Elias Pettersson and Victor Mancini have significantly improved the mobility and skill of the depth options. Shipping Vincent Desharnais to the Pittsburgh Penguins was an addition by subtraction. Noah Juulsen is no longer a lineup option because of injury.

Combined, all of that has significantly improved the Canucks’ results in non-Hughes minutes.

Before Feb. 1, the Canucks had been outshot by 149, controlled just 42.7 percent of scoring chances and been outscored by 21 goals in about 1,500 five-on-five minutes without Hughes on the ice. In other words, the Canucks performed like the Chicago Blackhawks or San Jose Sharks during non-Hughes minutes for most of the season.

Vancouver’s blue line has seen a dramatic glow-up, however, in the last 21 games since the series of trades/call-ups. Since Feb. 1, the Canucks have controlled 50.5 percent of scoring chances and posted a plus-one goal differential in over 800 five-on-five minutes without Hughes.

Vancouver’s bottom-four defence is no longer a soft underbelly that teams can expose. Rebuilding the top-six forward group will require a lot of heavy lifting in the offseason, but it’s encouraging that the revamped blue line is paying immediate dividends.

Add Willander into that group... defense should be pretty solid next year.

Not saying it's right/wrong but we need centers bad. It's an option.

How much you wanna bet Tocchet ends up in Philly now that Torts has been fired...

We had Desharnais, Juulsen, and Soucy all in the top 6 earlier this year. Now both Petterssons and Mancini, quite the turnaround.

Forbort has been solid for his role. Really helped on the PK. He missed a good chunk of the start with his dad's death too.

Thanks Yorks. Defence looks a lot better with Demko and Lankinen stealing wins back there. That's why teams build from the Goalies out.

At this point, not bringing back Forbort for next season would be a huge mistake. I'm hoping they throw him a bone for a 1-2 year deal in the 1.5-1.8MM AAV. I've really liked what he brings plus he always looks baked out of his mind haha.

I can see why they gave him the A for a bit too, he stands up for his teammates.

I've been saying it since these trades, our biggest weakness has become our biggest strength! Now of course at the cost of offence, we need a center bad!

Hopefully they learned from last year and keep that vet D presence. Especially when you have Mancini, D Petey, and Willander joining the team.

Wouldn't mind if Canucks got Ryan MacLeod out of Buffalo. 6'3 195lbs, 52% on the dot. Be a nice addition

Forbort has been playing great the past couple months.
Wouldn't mind locking him up for a couple years if the pay is reasonable.
Otherwise he might be the next Ian Cole

If they wanted Tocchet to resign, they'd have done so long before now. My guess is they aren't happy with how he went from a contender up until the ASG last year to a bubble team that probably isn't making the playoffs this year. It's been a theme with Tocchet in everywhere he's coached, every team he's coached have had one good year and then cracks began to show and his lack of being able to handle star players properly shows up. There's no reason that the spat between Miller and Petey should have gotten as bad as it did, it was on Tocchet to lay down the law and get them both in line.

He said he wants to focus on the season/playoff push. Take that for what you think it's worth.
