I'm shocked the Indians let that guy walk. He is the quintessential hispanic middle infielder.

Things you should know about Donald Trump:

When he negotiates, he uses ridiculous statements to rile up the other side. He then walks it back slowly, until he gets to the position that he'd already deemed that he can make a deal. The tariffs are being used to take away tariffs by the other side, be it Europe, China or Canada. Once they reach net zero, there are no tariffs on either side. That is the Art of the Deal.

Trump also starts a controversy, trying to get the media and those who get diverted by TDS to vent, while he does something surprising elsewhere. He controls the news cycle and keeps his opponents off balance. He makes them sound stupid, or uneducated. The 51st State analogy is a prime example. You can't have a 51st state without a 52nd state. The U.S. has always brought statehood in two's, not single states. If there were to be Statehood in Canada, expect it from the Western Provinces. The Republican's aren't interested in a welfare state that would vote Democrat, if they were admitted.

Trump's goals are for what's best for America, not other Nations. The $36T debt is unsustainable. It's why DOGE is needed and a brilliant move. Bring in the richest man in the world and squeeze out the corruption, be it Republican or Democrat. It's pretty hard to argue that it hasn't made significant progress in finding where the tax money went. The downside of this may cause a short, but sharp recession with all of the money that was pulled out of the NGO's and Illegal immigration leaving the economy. It's a necessary evil to rebalance the books and have a balanced budget. If the U.S. fails, we all go down in flames.

Since this is a hockey website, I'll put my two Lincoln pennies into the pot. I only have one Jefferson Davis penny to my name, so half an opinion won't help. Leafs will win 5 - 1 tonight. It's now a sprint to the finish and it starts tonight. It'll be a tougher test on Saturday Night.

Fine, how did they start with 13 states then?

Do you study history at all?

- Dozzer
I've seen the first American Flag at the Smithsonian. It didn't have proportionate stars. It had different shaped stars and 13 stripes, the Original 13 British Colonies. After the American Revolution, Vermont became the 14th state, parts of New York Province and New Hampshire gave up land to make it 14 states in 1791. The pairing of admitted States started in 1889. Many of the previous states existed as territories and some were acquired by War with Spain/Mexico, plus the Louisiana Purchase from France.

So, therefore, in modern history, the past 136 years, it's been multiples of two, 4 out of 6 times.

Canada would be a lovely +10.

I do. No other government in the last 50 years has tried to tackle the debt problem. They just keep deficit spending. Their goal is a balanced budget and see the debt clock stop and start regressing. If they can achieve this, it will be an amazing achievement. Too many people want to tear this down. Why?

I have no issues with spending within your means and budgeting correctly and reducing debt. That’s a no brainer. How you get there is the thing. Trump is in it for himself. He’s lying to the masses. And you cheer him for it. It’s a cult.

I never liked Donald Trump. He came across as brash and insensitive. In 2015, he came down the escalator and I sat on my couch, with my soon to be wife and watched what he had to say. I looked at her and said, he's making sense here. Trump continued to talk about Upper New York State and what had happened to it. I turned to my future wife and said, OK, let's go see for ourselves. The next day, we got in the car and headed to St. Lawrence County, in New York. We followed the path that took us to Ogdensburg and Massena. In each little town and small city, the same thing was showing up. Economic devastation. I took the time to speak with business owners in these towns and villages. Each one told me similar stories of factories leaving their small cities and towns. Alcoa, GM, the list goes long. The Malls were either closed up or in one case, the Seaway Mall in Massena, across from Cornwall, Ontario, had only 1/4 of the stores still operating. The food court had a Wendy's still operating but the other 11 kiosks were empty. What I found was an economic disaster in these small towns and cities. All because the Globalists took their factories to China, Mexico and even Saudi Arabia. Trump was correct.

A few months later, in 2016, when the Acella Primaries were occurring, I decided to check out a Trump Rally, in New York State. As I approached the Airport, outside of Watertown, NY, I noticed a 7-mile line of vehicles trying to get into the Airport. None of the vehicles were expensive, rich styles of cars. It was pickup trucks, 10-year-old beaters, just typical blue collar worker cars going to this rally. As I approached the rally, I noticed something else. American Flags everywhere. At that moment I knew I'd stumbled on to something. Once I made it into the Rally, it was obvious that there were no suits in that crowd. It was blue collar factory workers, truckers, bikers, farmers, all just common people there. I knew there was a change coming in America. People were angry, fed up. They weren't getting ahead; they weren't getting pay raises. They just wanted someone who cared. Trump filled that void by the way he talked to them. Trump can talk quite eloquently, if he chooses, but he talked their language. They understood him. It's why he's still understood by his people. His messaging has never changed. But I digress....

I hurried back to my mentor and friend, author Peter C. Newman, who was intrigued. He had me research Trump. I read his books, looked at his bio and then checked into his background. It was enlightening. In one of his books in the year 2000, he made reference to someone called Osama Bin Laden. He said that America would need to deal with this man sooner than later, a year later 9/11 happened. He also wrote about the Kim family in North Korea, again, he said America needed to be wary of that situation. Again, correct. Trump knew the American adversaries, even though he was not running for office. He is smart, tough and has more charisma than just about anyone out there. But Newman said, but he can't win. So, I continued my quest to figure out what I'd witnessed in the last year. I wrote an article about why he was going to win, when the polls had him going to lose badly to Hillary Clinton. In my article I mentioned what I'd witnessed on the ground. The average people were cynical about the way that the Establishment Politicians were paying them lip service. They also despised the media, because they mocked Trump. By mocking Trump, they were also mocking them. The Establishment never dreamed that Trump would win. That was their Waterloo. Trump won because the people wanted him to fix their problems. He did so, until Covid came along. You know the history after that.

I can't convince someone that is either indoctrinated or can't comprehend what is in my words, truth. I can only tell you what I witnessed and how it went down. If I met you on the street, I could show you. I have the books; I have the Newman comments. You can call me a liar, but that means nothing to me. I know what I witnessed and to this day understand the dynamics of what has happened and what will happen, due to my research and understanding of the situation. My knowledge of Canadian politics is also quite keen. As of right now, it's too soon to tell, who will be our next Prime Minister. My gut tells me that it will be Poilievre, but I won't underestimate the power of the press. Maybe the most telling statements that Peter Newman once quoted to me is this: The people don't pick our leaders, the press does. At one time that was true, but in these uncertain times, it appears that it may not always be true. That discussion happened in the final days of the Obama vs Romney Campaign.

How do you define rich? If you mean working middle class American's, it means entrepreneur's creating wealth. That is what he's trying to achieve. There are huge changes coming to the World in general, in the next few years. AI will forever change the way we do things in Society. Within 10 years, there will be no truck drivers, there will be self-driving vehicles. You won't have live humans doing customer service. You'll have bots that have all of the characteristics of humans. New and improved drugs and medical procedures will hit the market. Space travel will become a reality. What needs to be decided, is who will control AI? The U.S.? China? Will it come from a Private Equity company? What safeguards will be needed? Who makes the rules? What will we do with billions of redundant people? What kind of education will mankind need going into the future with AI doing most of the discovery and thinking? Will AI finally subvert humanity, and we all perish? Many questions need to be addressed. Time is almost up. It's here, but what will it bring? Small thinking and political skirmishes aren't the answer.

The top 1% of income earners ($745,000 and above) would get tax benefits averaging $62,000 and the bottom 60% (making $96,000) or less would get tax benefits averaging about $400.

The first round of Trump cuts didn’t bring any economic benefits as corporate cuts simply went to stock buy backs and big pay increases for executives.

Even if Congress completely hollows out SSA and other basic supports, this round of tax cuts is going to produce another big boost to the deficit. It’s possible that tariff revenues (sales taxes borne predominantly by lower and middle class people) will make up some of the shortfall. They’ll just use a new tax to help pay for cuts in another

You can always tell someone is low IQ when they use words like “comprehend.”

You realize the mainstream “press” is all RWNJ podcasters and YT talking heads now, right? They tell you they aren’t mainstream, but they are. They tell you they’re draining the swamp, but they are the swamp. They tell you they’re going to stop wasteful spending, but they’re just directing it towards their billionaire donors.

Comprehend that.

Have you seen any other elected government try to fix this problem? Have you ever seen someone like Elon Musk change political affiliations and work so hard to make change? Musk knows that if this continues, his wealth and that of the American people will evaporate. Musk has idea's that most people can't comprehend. His SpaceX rockets and experimentation with AI and robotics is second to none. Not bad for a guy that took degrees at Queens University, in Kingston. You have to ask yourself, why is Bobby Kennedy siding with Trump, considering that he's left of centre? Why is Tulsi Gabbard, a 2020 Democratic hopeful that ran for President now siding with Trump? Kennedy wants to eliminate the poison being used in the U.S. food supply. Gabbard knows the Middle East, as an Airforce Fighter Pilot. She knows where the bodies are buried. Musk, Gabbard and Kennedy were all voting Democrat in 2020. Why the change? The problem is Socialism and the disease that it's spreading in America.

Most Americans get their news from Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, Twitter. That is the press now. So the people who say they don't trust the media are actually utterly dependent on the media. They don't read relevant books about anything. They don't interview experts. They get everything through today's giant media companies.

Absolutely fabulous if you like authoritarian oligarchs. He doesn’t give a rats ass about the “people”. Talk about the biggest scam in history.
