Yeah was nice that Tocchet doghoused Hogs and derailed his career. Tocchet will be in Philly soon anyways can't see him sticking here with this MNGT group so bloody incompetent to put together a decent roster for him. |

Yeah writing seems to be on the wall, with Malhotra groomed as replacement. Most things connected with canucks seems to happen. Eriksson, Myers, Debrusk. MPetey & so many more. Once a name is connected it seems inevitable. Not sure who leaks these things but they're usually bang on eventually. Tocchet squeezed one good year out of the core, which is more than I think anyone was expecting when he came on. Nice of us to groom him for philly. |

Canucks have a club option on Tocchet for next year, and from all the writing (which I posted in a comment a couple days ago) they'll use it if nothing immediate works out. Tocc will be here at least next year. |

No way out of it?
Doesn't seem prudent to keep him here if he wants to be elsewhere. Not sure the value in keeping a lame duck coach for one year of what looks to be another re-tool at minimum. |

I can see Tocchet here next year, and personally would be happy with a contract extension, he is a good coach. |

Disagree. Hes a great coach. The fact we are even close to the playoffs with out top forward at what 45 pts? Is madness. |

Tocchet is a good coach, but he's shown that he's unable to sustain success over the long term. He's able to get the best out of his lineup for a year and then his methods stop working because inevitably teams figure out his systems. He's of the same mold as AV, unable to adapt when his systems get broken down and if he doesn't have the horses to work it. The team was good when we had insane shooting percentage and goalie save percentage last year from the start until the ASG. It forced teams to back off to protect against the transition and shot by the winger (usually Boeser or Miller or Petey) who could seemingly score at will and left the back door open for deflections and tap in goals. Once the shooting percentage came down to mean and Demko got injured, teams stopped needing to worry as much about the shot and played the pass, making our offense die since we weren't set up to be a cycling team like during the Sedin era. |

OK cool thanks. Wasn't questioning the fact of it at all, just whether it's a good idea to exercise if he's got a foot out the door to somewhere else. I've no idea that he actually does, just seems that when there is smoke there is fire with most canuck news. |

I think the idea he's ready to leave/the Philly connection is pure speculation from internet folks. From everything I've read, it's just a wait and see thing after the year. Don't think there's any actual smoke. |

His contract might rollover, but I bet you they'll fire him in a heartbeat next season if they don't start out well. JR and PA have to be feeling the heat for raising expectations and then regressing to being out of the playoffs and all the locker room issues that developed because of their decisions to keep/sign Miller and Petey instead of selling high on them when they could have. |

I think they'll sign him to a 3 year extension, and then possibly fire him at the end of next season if it doesn't go well. Manny is doing a good job in Abby, but he needs at least another season.
Honestly I can't really see next season going worse than this year, unless players will/have already quit on Tocc. But I'm immensely doubtful of that. They've dealt with so much poop this year it can't all happen again to the same level next season. |

A roller coaster season on many levels. D is looking good & in goal if Demko isn’t always on the shelf. |

I think they wait until close to the TDL before deciding to resign Tocc next year, they're going to want to see the team actually be in a playoff spot and somewhat safe before they commit. FA's got to be gun-shy about signing a coach and then immediately firing him and having to pay him out for the length of it. |

That contradicts not wanting to negotiate in season. If FA has a say it’s asinine. He’s either resigned or a lame duck. Imo JR/PA have autonomy or why would they be here? |

He’s an awful coach. He’s sucked every single year except the one where his goaltender stood on his head. But it’s the nhl old boys club. Gotta keep those ex players employed. |

On Suter. Further exemplifies how bad EP has been with the same wingers to use.
On Forbort he has earned a new contract at the right price for the Canucks.
On Boeser to stay it needs to be a team friendly. He is needed & he wants to stay. If he walks goals go with him & replacing that won’t be cheaper & the prospects aren’t going to replace it.
On Demko he’s still an elite goalie & Blanky is not a full time starter. Injuries are a big concern but hopefully resigning takes that into consideration. |
