I remember the days of Ward Cornell, Billy Hewitt, Howie Meeker and Di-ck Beadoes. These guys knew hockey. Of course, the broadcasts were via antenna and early cable systems. There was only Saturday night games in the regular season on CBC. CFTO in Toronto did the Wednesday Night games. With the advent of cable, the rights went from CFTO, midweek, to CHCH, then Global, before they ended up on cable. Yes, we got most of the games, but we had to pay for a cable subscription and often an upgraded Sports package. Now we have multiple rights holders and the games are now fragmented. I think Prime is an abomination. It also angered me when the Centre Ice Package was $229.00 + tax a year, in Canada, while Directv had it for $99.00 USD per year. Now ESPN+ has the Centre Ice packages, but the regional SportsNet's have a splintered package with AppleTV and other providers like ABC, TNT, TBA and Tru. You just can't one stop shop anymore.

Yeah, I have a Firestick here but haven't activated it yet. I have Bell Fibe and can get the Leafs/Sens/Habs regionally, so it's enough with the National games. I may eventually try the Firestick, maybe at the start of next season. Being in Kingston, I can also get ABC pretty easy via antenna, from Watertown, NY for some bonus action this time a year. I finally ditched my Directv because of the cost and the loss of Centre Ice and the NFL Sunday Ticket. They used to comp me the Sunday Ticket, for the last few years of their contract.

Oh man, plug in that firestick and use the Amazon Silk browser. I have zero idea why but the onhockey.tv site works just fine on it. Does it anywhere else for me? Nope.

You have to figure out which links work nicely but once you do it’s a repeat thing that’s easy peasy nonsense. Totally free, so it’s worth it.

Love that site, has links to every league on the planet. Maybe not in English but you can always put on the the game, mute it, and toss on some tunes lol

Watching it on my PC, good streams and tons of games.
No issues with other language too, but their commentators are not nearly as good as in NHL.

Man will Rogers (frank) off already with their NHL deals
- TheMussel

Rogers owns sports in Canada. They’ve got all the broadcasting except curling and CFL and all the Toronto teams. I find that more concerning than the fact that Ron McLean is a dweeb

It's almost dangerous. Having all of the power makes for profiteering. Where do you go when there isn't anywhere to go? Sure, I can do the VPN router routine and use a U.S. server, but that gets tricky, when trying to get the most bang out of your buck. The best server would be in central New York, probably Albany, so you can get the 3 New York based teams and the Sabres on MSG. There is getting FUBO, or Hulu, but you'd be paying for stuff you don't want or need. Right now, ESPN+/Hulu and Disney are bundled, but again, too much stuff that I'm not interested in. Of course, the exchange rate is $1 USD costs you $1.5 Canadian. Not a good recipe here. I'll try the Firestick soon enough. I'm assuming that it's a Canadian version. Do you have to jailbreak it or just download the website? I have 3 TVs with Roku, one also has Google and is a Nextgen TV. There isn't a lot of ATSC 3.0 broadcasting in these parts as of yet, but I occasionally can receive it OTA from Syracuse, NY, usually in the summer months. The transmitters are 98 miles from here and are fringe 2 line-of-site. Watertown is under 50 miles but haven't transitioned yet.

The Sportsnet broadcasts are old and have lost their appeal. The NHL in Canada needed someone else to carry the ball moving forward. The TSN telecasts are much better and more entertaining. I don't think that I'll live long enough to see another broadcaster actually do something innovative, here in Canada. I'd rather punt Jennifer the Giraffe for Sheryl Pounder any day. What a crappy choice for Canadian viewers.

The only way I watch any of their content other than the on ice product is by mistake. The main panel with Ron, Kelly, etc. is awful. It’s too painful listening to Elliot trying to do hockey analysis rather than sticking to gossip. I actually do like David Amber but he’s usually joined by Sam Cosentino…enough said.

I knew a guy who had 4 Colton Orr jerseys, including a signed one. I would hear him calling in to sports talk radio shows and he would say stupid poop until they hung up on him. He was a Leafs megafan.
