Hence, we will see plenty of transactions over the next 2 summers besides just drafting prospects. My best guess is one of Briere's first moves this summer is to trade for a goalie. No way he runs back the goaltending triumvirate again. I have mentioned before Thatcher Demko as a likely candidate and how it would benefit both teams for a trade to happen. Briere is going to sign/acquire a veteran proven goalie this summer, IMO.

Probably so but it wouldn't truly benefit the Flyers.

Not sure how true any of this is- just glad the circus is over. I do not want a HC who has a catch phrase- "Well, its Torts being Torts." No way I want Shaw taking over HC, even if the team wins every game. That would be a bad idea.

Dunno how reliable this source is but Torts may not be out of a job for long

What’s the over/under on how many years Briere has left? 2.5?

Also, do you think after that happens they will blame the “rebuild” approach and say see, it doesn’t work.

Most times, it is better to be lucky then good. We'll see how lucky this regime gets. G had a terrific career as a Flyer. Four seasons with points above 80. As a comparison, Kucherov already has 7 seasons over 80 points. My point is if Michkov is closer to Kucherov level production, the supporting cast will not need to be as good to be competitive (please note, I did not write Stanley Cup contender) and overall lead to a better decade.

Giroux was also picked 22nd overall. Doesn't get luckier than getting a HOF level player at 22. I hope Michkov is better. But he will not be able to carry a team much further than Giroux did. He surely won't be able to make a OK/good team into a regular cup contender.

That's what I want. A team that competes for the cup regularly. I would settle for a single cup at this point though.

Just started listening to that Spitting Chiclets episode. Aside from the Torts/York stuff I thought there was a funny/telling moment when they were joking around about where Torts would end up next. Someone suggested Anaheim and Yandle had a real chuckle at the thought of Gauthier ending up with Torts. I guess Yandle, at least, feels that Gauthier didnt want to play in Philly because of Torts.

Telling a guy in front of the team that you're gonna bury him if he signs an extension is all kinds of (frank)ed up, assuming Whitney's not making that up.

LMAO. It's April 1st. What team who is currently in a season that is a cup contender in the stretch drive is already considering a new coach for next season?????
