Btw, I remember when Shane Wright dropped in the draft and was thought to be a potential bust. Just turned 21 with 41 points so far on a not very good SEA team. Cautionary tale about James Hagens potential fall in the draft. Would not be upset at all if Hagens will be the pick this summer.

I would be overjoyed to get Hagens.

Potentially, still think Shesterkin will be the difference in that game. Flyers save % before this game .879. Did not improve after the Habs games. Flyers will need to score at least 3 goals in a game at a minimum to earn any possible points in these last 5 games.

I hope you’re right. They’ve been stinking it up at the garden lately. Hopefully they will try to save face at home and give the fans something. Went on their page today, their posts sound worse than ours, looking to get rid of everyone.

Shouldn't we want ND playing to enhance our chances at losing? Even if the Flyers are trying to compete, will Abols and Lycksell make a difference? They are career AHLers or NHL call ups at best. I saw the great one MJL earlier crying about ND being in the lineup like the 7-8 minutes is really going to make a difference at this point. That said, I do not want Brad Shaw as coach

No issue with Nic D playing the rest of the seasom. Once they left Grebenkin in LV, career AHLers can sit. Dorwart should play every game and I believe he will. Good for Nic getting some games where it is not a givrn he has to drop the gloves. Secure that top.4 pick.

Kraken up early in the first, maybe they’ll complete an almost sweep of a scoreboard watching night. It’s a shame we’ve been reduced to this.

Flyers win the lottery and the consensus #1 pick is Matthew Schaefer. Decisions, decisions. Fun to think about, just want that top 4 pick very badly.

Back to the 4th worst record. For now.

So I know sitting in that 4 spot we’re all thinking Hagens or Martone, but we’ve gotta look at the odds in that slot.

Truth is, the 4th worst schedule means you’ve got a 65.4% chance of drafting 5th or 6th. Most of that is 5th, so really what we’re likely doing is securing our grasp on Frondell with a 1/5 shot we have to settle for Desnoyers or Eklund in the worst case scenario.

Getting the 4th pick when finishing with the equivalent record is only a 15.4% shot. 4th is that Hagens/Martone area.

You actually have a slightly better chance at landing one of Schaefer or Misa instead of Hagens/Martone at 4. The top 2 each comes with a 9.5% chance, for a combined 19%.

3rd overall is a very slight 0.3%.

The biggest relief is that you don’t slide past 6. McQueen is a nice prospect, big kid too, but I don’t like back troubles on an 18 year old. It gives me pause.

So as a recap, 4th worst record means the worst that can happen is deciding between Desnoyers or Eklund. Frondell looks more likely than ever. You’ve got a punchers chance at a top 2.

Ersson had a golden opportunity to prove himself a #1 goalie over the last 2 seasons. I doubt the new HC would want to inherit the triumivrate in goal next season.

To the task at hand, just need 5 more games for the goaltending to be be bad

In the one game I was able to watch him play, what I noticed the most was how unnoticeable he was. Wasn’t bad exactly, just seemed…disinterested. Very passive. In mulling it over a little more afterwards, it struck me that it was more likely he has some kind of nagging injury, something robbing him of a bit of jump in his stride or is leading him to avoid contact more than he might otherwise.

I feel good about their chances. The Flyers goaltending is just so bad, really bad. A bad goal goes in and the teams' energy just fades away with them being out of the playoffs. The sugar high of Shaw as interim is now gone. Rangers on Wednesday, then last 4 games in 6 days will be a tough grind for a team just playing to get to the summer and avoid injury.

The Flyers are a very weak team mentally. Just look at their $8MM dollar men (Michov should of had at least 3 assists). For them to be effective everything must fall into place, from the schedule (can't be too tired or too rested) to the officiating, all the way down to how the vendors are pouring the beers.....

He was such a stud as an underager at the WJC that I was sold on what he can really be. I've watched a few college games on ESPN+, and yes, Ive seen some good things and Ive seen him be nonexistent.

At 4, 5, or 6 Hagens is a great pick. If they win the lottery I am actually leaning towards them picking Misa at this point. I think they need a crazy talented center to build around.

Being realistic, because the lottery is a dream. I will be happy if they come away with any of Hagens, Frondell, or McQueen. Need to start building that center spot, even more so than defense IMO.

From what I have read about this draft, all the top prospects have question marks. Schaefer has remained the best prospect, while only playing while playing only 17 games in the OHL. That being written, if he can reach being a #1 Dman, Schaefer has to be the pick, IMO. It's been so long for the Flyers to have a Dman that can control the game. Really miss the days of Rico, Kimmo, and Pronger play- it has been too long. Schaefer will not be 18 until September. Misa has been terrific in the regular season and absolutely awful in the playoffs. Martone was pretty good in the regular season, playing well in the playoffs. Frondell started the year with an injury, started slow, but was on fire by the end of the regular season. Coming into the season, Hagens had all the hype. College season was not as productive as expected, but international play was very good. McQueen missed most of the season with a back injury and has been underwhelming in the playoffs. I have no interest in McQueen. Any of the other 5 prospects mentioned, I would be thrilled if the Flyers got to draft any one of them. The other prospect I really like is Jake O'Brien outside of the top 5.

It's possible, then I also read with Saginaw eliminated, Misa might play in under 18 tournament. Still would be happy with him to be a Flyer. Still understand why Schaefer has remained top prospect with his age, measurables, and skill even with the lack of playing time this season.

Here's a stupid exercise...

Say the Flyers win the lottery with Chicago second and Nashville third.

Would you entertain the prospect of trading the #1 plus a second to Chi for the 2nd overall and their first from Tor?

How about moving the #1 plus a second to Nash for the 3rd overall and their first from TB?

Both Chi and Nash would love Schaefer on their backline and the Flyers could use Misa/Hagens/Frondell plus an additional 1 rounder.

It’s an interesting thought. I don’t think you pass on Schaefer, even though I love Misa.

That kid is ranked top 3 for both offensive defensemen as well as defensive. He’s got the puck on lockdown. He reads defenses incredibly well. He tosses hard checks.

He’s kinda like a young Shea Weber.

Casty hit a slam. He usually feasts during dark times. I wonder if it was because of the death of Gretzky’s record.
