Sure. It's really translated to the present NHL roster nicely. Any fluke that Abby is doing so well with a Canadian heavy roster at this time of year? - Load Management
Having more Canadians doesn't make a team better or worse. Having better hockey players does. Correlation does not equal causation.
And looking over their rosters, it's about the same makeup as previous seasons. It's not really heavier Canadian than years past. Maybe they just have better players and a better coach? That might be fluky though.

Agreed. Maybe Frondell drops to Canucks |

Won't really change much, a few spots in the draft order at best in a weak draft. Gonna be picking 10-16... Would rather have more of the youth get a shot to play in the structure and culture of a team that wins (or tries to!). Hopefully they can get Willander over for a few games. - NewYorkNuck
Agreed.
Raty has impressed the bits that i've seen on the big club.
Sasson as well, although he's a bit of tweener imo.
I'm not sure about burning a season of Willander for a couple meaningless games, but i would love to see him join Abbotsford as they are now on a 13 game wins streak

Raty has looked good, especially with his ability to take draws both ways. He's still young, too.
One of the callups, centre Aatu Raty, showed both the promise and faults that most talented prospects possess.
The 22-year-old, thrust into a third-line role after depth centre Nils Aman was injured at practice on Wednesday, battled to the front of the Vegas net to score the Canucks’ tying goal in the second period.
But Raty was also one of the Canucks at fault on Olofsson’s winning goal, as he offered only a weak stick check before allowing the Knight to go to the front of the net to convert William Karlsson’s pass. Canucks rookie defenceman Vittorio Mancini was watching Karlsson as Olofsson skated in behind him, and veteran Vancouver winger Dakota Joshua was not back quickly enough on the Vegas counter-attack.
“It just sucks to give up that one at the end,” Raty said, adding that he would need to look at the play again. “If you want to go out there and play for a good team . . . the coach has to be able to rely on you and in every (situation). Every player is so good, you've got to play good defense.”
“He's a work in progress,” Tocchet said. “He's a young kid. You know, he's going to make some mistakes, but also . . . I like his effort, right? So you've just got to keep working with him.”
They'll sign Willander to burn a year/entice him over. Pretty common these days. Not sure he can play with Abby, though? |

You're probably right. Although I think an ATO is technically possible.
Amateur tryout. An Amateur tryout (ATO) contract exists in the NHL, the AHL and the ECHL. This type of contract is for players who are leaving college and attempting to turn professional, are done with college or are graduating from the junior leagues.

You still need to sign a standard player contract, in order to play in the NHL |

Yeah.
As a fan, i'd prefer Willander to play for Abby and the playoffs this season and join the big club next year on an ELC.
I'm sure the kid and the agent will insist on the security of signing straight to the NHL tho.
In that case, i'm not sure he can be sent down so late in the season.

The most he would get in would be 3 games, possibly only 1 game, not worth it imo |

Agreed on all & with Sasson I see bottom 6 versatility & depth. Not holding hope to get a top 6C. |

Brock should focus on just playing out the season on a high note & focus on offseason training & skating. Of late he has looked more mobile but needs another gear or at least more explosive.
I think he’ll be back says my gut. Lol |

I watch the difference in Junior all the time. Kid's that have been trained to play heavier Hockey on North American rinks thrive at this time of year compared to those that don't. There is correlation and causation that you're ignoring. Experience. Especially when a smaller rink gets even smaller. |

I think Werenski went to the ahl , at his request , when he came out of college, and he said the calder cup run prepared him better for the next NHL season and the start of his pro career |
