so is this
Ok what’s going on here?
Yields are going up which means bond prices are going down.
Fewer buyers of the world’s safest asset.
Normally when the economy slows, there’s a flight to safety, not away from it.
Means the world may be abandoning America.
We are flirting with a true crisis.
People need to understand. The 10 year treasury note is the backbone of the entire economy. Mortgage rates, consumer debt etc are based on its rate. It's considered the "risk free" rate. What happens when the basis of the financial markets is no longer risk free is a total financial market collapse.
The phenomenon of stock market crashing *and* bond yield shooting up as people rush to sell bonds is a feature of nastier, more reckless countries; like Italy and Brazil and Turkey. Never America. Until now.

Holy crap. Vancouver score THREE times in the last minute to get the game to OT, then won.
DeSmith is not an NHL caliber goalie, though. - Whipper
Wow, so I thought DAL was a contender and the Leafs were pretenders? |

The moment Yzerman tried to help his team make the playoffs by signing/trading for guys like Chiarot, Holl, Copp, Petry, Compher etc. he pretty much decided this team would never be a contender. At best, it's a group that will fight for a playoffs spot every year, might make it sometimes but they lack enough young elite talent to take the next step.
The Sabres are now basically a pipeline for the other teams in the league. Just wait until they get tired of one of the talented young guys they drafted, trade for one and reap the benefits. |

Ya some of the shine may be falling off the Stevie Y gold statue the way the Red Wings have been since he took over as GM in April 2019.
The Red wings have had one season of winning more games than they lost since then which was last year and the still missed the playoffs going 41-32-9 and may win more than they lose this year but will likely miss the playoff again.
If they miss the playoffs this will be the 9th year in a row they miss and the 3 years prior to missing they were one and done (2014, 2015 and 2016).
They have been trying to do the on the fly rebuild / re-tool for way too long instead of just blowing it up. This was exactly what Toronto did for years while Detroit was making the playoffs every year.
You would have thought they would have learned from Toronto and just blown it up / tanked and did a true rebuild but sure doesn't feel like they ever have & I wonder if they ever will?

Jarncrok should have played his last game as a Leaf tonight.. Not sure why they have Robertson on the 4th line.. If the kid is good at anything it is offence.. He should be a 3rd liner or in the press box. - Azuredoom
He had twice as many shots as Mathews, Marner, and Nylander COMBINED.
Don't think he was the issue last night. |

Leafs deliberately threw the game last night... Or at least, that's what I choose to believe.
Tonight is a must win. Get a stranglehold on the division lead, and hopefully Florida outpaces Ottawa. Bring on the battle of Ontario |

Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have done an exemplary job rebuilding a team that finished dead last in 21-22. |

Yarn-Cock wasn't why they lost but you aren't directly saying that and I get it but as someone else noted he had more shots than several of the core players and that's an issue and the no-shows from those players (Matthews, Marner and Willy namely) is why they lost.
These guys are paid to score - if they don't' score then the Leafs lose more often than not and this isn't a Leaf unique thing, if your best players aren't your best players that day / night you lose far more often than you win.
Robertson showed why he can't stick in the lineup with his careless play last night and ineffectiveness. He seems to need to be kicked in the backside every couple games to get going and the Leafs don't need a (another?) guy taking a roster spot that needs that and is a defensive liability like he is.
I do agree he is a waste on a 4th line and said it in pre season when he was hot - the Leafs should trade him because they are wasting him based on what he is / isn't and what spots they have to fit him in.

Esposito was incredible - imagine winning 6 scoring titles in a row, without knowing how to skate.
Amazing. |
