IF JT Miller still a canuck the outcome would be different?
Oooooooooooooooooooooooo

- Fidel

Maybe a few more goals overall with JT still here but ultimately the drama effect would have still been there hard to say. Remember we have an 11.6 mil 45 point player here now lol.

But early on I did warn Lefty and a few others here about the concerns on scoring being massively down this season. We scored something like 280 goals total last season compared to a pace of around 235-240 this season. They brushed it off. That's not gonna cut it. But Lefty defended the off season acquisitions scoring abilities as 'pretty much the same as last season' lol. Guess numbers for retired engineers can be a little tough

Bottom line is compared to the roster Tocchet had to work with last season we swapped out too many players without replacing their scoring production. But much of this is on Tocchet and MNGT as well. A different topic.

But yet Travis Green and the Sens are in and Tocchet and the Canucks are well...

No. He couldn't even drag the Rangers to the playoffs. Canucks would probably be worse off with him still on the team, for both drama and performance reasons.

Now, if you wanna go down hypotheticals, the Canucks would be better off having traded Miller instead of Horvat in 2023.

- NewYorkNuck

Going down that road, it would bee interesting to see where Canucks would be if they didn't trade away so many 1st, 2n and 3rd round picks, just to try be competitive.

Or a different owner. Nothing will change until that changes.
They are going to be desperate to make the playoffs next season so I expect a few panic moves in the summer.

Lots of big games tonight, that could potentially help Canucks get a better draft position.

Easy to say however you do realize that moving picks to get better is part of the process correct? There is never any guarantee that high picks will work out nor is there any guarantee that players coming in for picks will work out either. It's risk either way. Building a championship club takes much more than just drafting and developing. Many processes involved.

Easy to explain goal scoring down from EP Boeser & Miller. The rest have done good to great. Joshua & Hog not included.

Leaves the top 6 to be remade. EP cannot take another year off. Suter has filled in great but he cannot be expected to be a minute munching top 2C.

It's team totals the numbers don't lie. Regardless of EP Boeser Miller ETC team scoring is WAY down and it has cost us huge this year. If Boeser leaves then Petey is gone Hughes might bail. We are facing a tough challenge this summer. MNGT has to convince Hughes that he will get the help he needs or he is gone.

I think EP will bounce back. Need to replace what Boeser and Miller brought when they were happy here. Maybe Horvat returns? lol

If Boeser leaves it's way better for us anyways IMO. We can't lock him up for 5-8 years after 27 years old no way. Money can be spent wisely on players moving forward.

The challenge is better consistency & health. As for the help it starts with EP not playing like a 3C. The rest is fluid with better D.

If he walks yes the money can be better spent. As for way better that depends on who comes in & the how it gets done.

Agree and our D is really shaping out. Health will always be an issue with most clubs now these players are just built differently than the old school boys. Gotta play through that stuff. It's massive risk keeping EP after what we have witnessed but I think he can bounce back to a top 10 guy.

Not hard to bounce back from a 5m type of season lol. Need to have a better PP that isn’t only Hughes. Miller at his best we had that. That disappeared fast last season into this season.

He is a big part of the poor mix of players. Not only is he a bit slow, but for a guy 6'2 and over 200 lbs, he is not a physical presence at all, whether it be throwing a few decent hits, or being aggressive at the net.
Time to move on.

We MASSIVELY overachieved last year, darn near every player had close to, or did have a career year AND stayed healthy (save for Demko) for the vast majority of the year. That wasn't sustainable by any metric and this year we just regressed to the mean. The fact of the matter is, we are essentially the Utah HC but with the best D-man (debateable but if not 1b behind Makar) in the world but we have no other exceptional players. EP40 was supposed to be that player (and still could) but Boeser hasn't been the same since he broke his back and wrist, Miller is gone, Demko is a shadow of his former self and only Hughes is getting better and can't do it alone.

I said it before, it's time to rebuild this team around Hughes, break the bank for him, give him total control and let him dictate who he wants to play for and who he wants around him and go from there. There will never be another player like him in a Canucks uniform again, so why not hand him the keys and let him run the car. It's not like what we're doing has worked out so spectacularily so far anyways.

You cannot totally discount he could score & wasn’t a liability. Now his ask is too high for what the team needs. I expect he will move on.

I think we are seeing a retool already going on with the shift to remaking the D. If a rebuild then that means EP is gone in your example so to where for who &/or what?

Canucks team awards seem as dull as the end of the season.

My picks.

Cyclone Taylor Trophy – “Most Valuable Player” - Hughes
Walter (Babe) Pratt Trophy – “Best Defenceman” - Hughes
Pavel Bure Award – “Most Exciting Player” - Hughes
Fred J. Hume Award - “Unsung Hero” - Sherwood  or Lankinen?
