Yeah, and I actually think the Blues could scare the Jets. They just lost Ehlers and another forward to injury. I think the Habs could scare the Caps. If they steal one of those first two in DC. lookout! Gonna pick the Avs/Canes in the Final with the Avs winning. I enjoy the hockey playoffs, although it's getting old not having the Flyers in it. I mean, what else is there? I don't really watch baseball and I certainly ain't watching the NBA playoffs.

If a team in 12-16 range wins the first drawing, then their new position (moving up ten spots from current standings is locked in) and so is the #1 position of the worst team.

The odds you refer to above can happen in only 1 situation:

Det (current #12) wins the first drawing. Ascends to 2. Locked in is 1. Sharks 2. Wings.

Then, Flyers win the 2nd drawing.

first time I ran it, came up Pens #1, threw up in my mouth

With Trotz making the pick in NSH, I really believe he will chose Desnoyers. He'll have his two way center. For me to maximize Mickhov, a center should have speed, ability to pass the puck and think the game like him. Still believe Hagens is the best choice. I do think Hagens will stay at center in the NHL.

Draft order chances -

1) 9.5%
2) 9.5%
3) 0.3%
4) 15.4%
5) 44.6%

We’ve gotta temper our expectations of a top 4 pick.

The most important part of finishing with the 4th worst record is that you can’t do worse that 6th. We really didn’t wanna be scratching our heads at 8 hoping someone will fall or wondering if taking a shot at McQueen is the right move. Nice talent from what I’ve dug up, but 2 back injuries already.

We got a 19% chance at Schaefer or Misa. Hell, that means we have a better chance at one of them than whomever we’re thinking at 4. But we have to accept that there’s a 65.4% chance we draft 5 or 6.

The worst case scenario is ending up with someone like Frondell, O’Brien, or Desnoyers. Fine by me.

Or god forbid they Flyer it up and go off board for a traditional and antiquated Philly type.

I understand the math, but there is something conceptually wrong with having a 65% chance of picking lower. Maybe they should change the lottery to top 5 or 7 and only draw for the #1. Or a team can only pick top 5 once every 5 years (I think iti is 2 now)

But if that happens, the lottery will become sort of meaningless, and the incentive to deliberately tank will enhanced.

I am not monitoring it. It showed up as active (blue). I clicked and it took me some time to realize just how old that thread was. I wondered how the spammer found it, why he chose that thread, how he managed to form an account etc.

Ah, I wasn’t aware the drawing system was like that for those top picks. If that’s the case, then no, we don’t have a 19% chance at either Misa or Schaefer. We have a 9.5% chance twice, and that is indeed not the same. I see it better now.
