so why would he care about next year's pick?

only this year's pick can help his situation, what the hell does he care about possibly picking high in 2026 draft, if it happened the next GM would be making that pick anyway

This is true, no one they draft this year will have an impact on this team next year.

Tocchet sounded like he knows he’s out in Vancouver. Tocchet going to rangers or flyers according to people “in the know”, and we have the goalie. We really should be hoping for Tocchet imo. I know I am. Definitely over the other retreads. I’d be happy with Carle too

So you don’t count years 2 and 4 when they went to the ECF of getting it right? It’s what I don’t get. Yea this was a bad year but that means the other years don’t count at all? So if a team doesn’t win the cup every year their GM must suck then

Jim Nill by all accounts is a great GM. What the hell have they won?

TB and Vegas by all accounts trades every single one of their first rd picks, they win cups. Imagine that. Going for it every year.

Well at least if you have a fav baseball team, they both look really good. Big walk off HR for Lindor

He inherited Panarin Kreider Shesty Fox Schneider Miller Zib etc etc.

He signed Trocheck, good signing.
Extended Zib, good at the time.

But his trades have been HORRIFIC.

He hired Gallant that got them to the ECF the first time. Then he hired Lavi who wont the Presidents trophy and ECF last year.

Last year Wennberg scores an OT goal in Game 3 of the ECF and Roslovic played a major role in Game 6 comeback win verse Carolina to clinch the series. Both players he traded for.

In 2022 he traded for Frank Vatrano and Andrew Copp who both were players that helped them get to the ECF

Like I said this past year was bad but he has made good moves in the past that helped the team have success.
