here's how Ticketmaster works for season ticket holders:
Let's say I resell a ticket for $100. Ticketmaster takes a 10% cut, so if it sells, I get $90.
But then they take that $100 ticket and add a 20% markup on the other end - so the guy buying it pays $120.
I get $90, Ticketmaster gets $30, fans get screwed, and Ticketmaster still won't upgrade their website, which I believe is still powered by Compuserve. - Atomic Wedgie
It's definitely a horrible (and profit driven by Ticketmaster) system.
I fixed your cut on your first example, I would hope if you sell for $100 you get more than $10! lol
They only real advantage to using TM (IMO) is ease and security but if you find a trusted seller or sellers and can do deals outside of TM you can save a lot.
When I had extra playoff tickets one year I sold them via TM just for the ease of it.

The more I look at Ticketmaster the more I hate them.

We were in Seattle back in the fall with some friends. We decided we would go see a Kraken game (not playing the Leafs).
So 2 hours before the game, as we are driving from Vancouver to Seattle, we grabbed some great seats. $90 X 4 - in the second tier, with private bar area, some free food, and the worst free wine I have ever tried to drink.
Great, transaction goes through, Ticketmaster takes our money, we proceed to the hotel.
Check into hotel, my wife checks her email - Ticketmaster has emailed us. There was a problem with the transaction, the sale didn't go through, they will refund our money in 4-7 business days!!!!!
We have to buy tickets again, the great deal is gone, we end up paying about $20 more per seat for the same tickets.
A week later, they reimburse us for the first sale, but not for the extra $80 we had to spend.
I didn't even bother calling customer service to complain - it would just be a waste of time.

Gross!
I bought tickets to see a concert in the US and then my friend who was supposed to go bailed a month or so before so I had to sell them. No problem, it was a concert many wanted to go to so I knew I wouldn't take a hit.
Sold them via TM and made like $40 US per ticket - cool!
Except it was US TM not Canadian and so they for some stupid reason couldn't put the $ back on the credit card I paid with and had to mail me a cheque - fine.
Their system sucks for this and I had to call them relentlessly and email non-stop to get this cheque cut and mailed. It took me 7 months AFTER the concert to get my money back.

So once upon a time, let's say about 20 years ago, there was no way you could resell your tickets on the open market via Ticketmaster.
But MLSE operated an internal website (I can't remember if it was through Ticketmaster or not) - you could sell your tickets to other season seat holders - we were the only ones who had access.
And the best part? You could only sell them at cost. Not a penny more.
I bought tons of seats for friends in that brief window of time.
IIRC, they would email you a .pdf of the tix. |

Spicy words from Kyle Dubas:
https://ca.yahoo.com/spor...s-karlsson-224937754.html - Atomic Wedgie
He sounds a bit fed up.
EK took the $ he did and agreed to the trade he did so it's kinda' hard (for me) to feel sorry for him.
If Dubas moves him Pittsburgh will have to take a bad contract back and/or retain & that would be interesting.

He wanted to be the boy wunder with all of the power. He can name a GM anytime. He can hire more than his boy toy Spezza as AGM's. |

I agree, but then I see headlines like "The Leafs haven't been up 2-0 in a series since 1903!" or something and you just see it coming. |

I need the Habs to just force a Game 5 - I'll be in Montreal on the 30th, and I want to go watch a game in a rowdy Habs bar. |

Oh I’d love some but I also know my gf and I are hitting to grocery store once she’s home from work around 3:30.
So I’ve made up a lunch using up some stuff that was on its last legs, still good, but I’m glad I did it today lol
She’s not a sushi fan herself so if we got some today she’d also need something she wants as well… I’ll see what she mentions herself first and see if it’s worth it lol |

I don't know if I told you this story, but last year I visited her in March for the Leafs @ Habs game.
So after the game, I said, "You're going out with your dad for a beer.'
"OK, fine, where do you want to go?"
"We're going to the epicentre of Montreal's nightlife - we're going to Crescent Street! I'll let you pick the bar - what's your favourite?"
"Dad, nobody goes to Crescent Street."
"What the hell are you talking about? It's the premier party street."
I dragged her there. We went to a place I knew would be hopping - Churchills!
We sat at the bar, ordered a couple of beers, and she said, "Dad, I'm the youngest person in here by 30 years."
I have never felt older in my life. Apparently Montreal has changed since the early 1990s. |

I bought these concert tickets once and then I couldn't go, and ticket master wouldn't even let me sell them at all, I was (frank)ed if I couldn't go.
Remember my tragic story |

Finished making our plans to go to the East Coast on vacation. Was telling my mom and dad, my mom chimes in "Go to this place, ohhh and this place!" My dad looks at her and rolls his eyes "It's been 40 years since we were there, none of that poop is still open." |
