Twist all you like. Doesn't change the answer to the thread's question. Leafs are, unequivocally, in a better position.

And who's blaming Bernier? I think you misread basically everything that's been written.

Based on what?

Senators finished 4 points up of the leafs, one more ROW than the leafs.

The Senators have a younger team, more cap space and a better coaching staff.

but come on, the leafs are better.....despite having less points, scoring less goals, having a worse defence, being an older team, having a worse coach, worse gm.............it's the leafs, so they're automatically better....even though really, they're worse.

its' funny how the standings are only relevant when the leafs are ahead.

well, they didn't score more, so how exaclty are they better?
- sensarmy_11

well, hypothetically, team A could be better now but team B could be closer to being way better later.

For a homer example, Nashville outscored us this year, and are better defensively, but they traded away their best offensive player, and we'd have an easier time finding guys like Nystrom and Bourque than they are finding guys like Hall and Eberle.

This is a digression from Leafs-Sens, but it indicates how GF wouldn't tell the whole forward-looking story.

Please. In arguments such as these standings are only relevant if your team happens to be ahead in them.

You left out the highest priced tickets in the NHL, highest TV ratings, most fans, spend to the cap, best tv/radio announcers and almost anything else that does not contribute to wins and points.

yes i do.

what exactly do the leafs have to build on?

3 epic collapses in a row, a mountain of bad contracts, a poopty defense with little to no help in the system, incompentent coaching and management, etc, etc, etc, etc.

the leafs maybe have 5-6 players worth anything, and then a bunch of poop and filler

- sensarmy_11

1 bad contract doesn't make a mountain

And that contract doesn't exactly make Nonis "incompetent".

saying only 5-6 players are worth anything on the Leafs is a stretch, and you know it.

Leafs have one of the best top-lines in the league.
One of Ryan/Spezza/Z would look good with Kadri and Lupul on the Leafs second line. The others would definitely be a good upgrade to our 3rd line.

Leafs and Sens both have very good #1 d-men, but not much following... except the Leafs have far more in terms of youth and prospects to build their d-corps going forward.

Leafs goaltending is far superior

Leafs ownership is willing to spend on and off the ice to improve the team
Sens' ownership sees the team as a piggy bank.

Leafs have far more to build on the Sens, and the means to do so.

Sens have more cap space because their ownership won't spend to keep players.

So.... WHO is in a better situation: LEAFS or SENS?

One word answer:
WHO is in a better situation: LEAFS or SENS?

- Feeling Glucky?

Dopps, I understand math isn't your strong suite, but I'm sure you understand what one means.

So, one word answer: WHO is in a better situation: LEAFS or SENS?

- Feeling Glucky?

Yea, but WHO is in a better situation: LEAFS or SENS?
- Feeling Glucky?

Isn't it annoying when you say that, but the poster keeps posting the same thing over and over?

leafs have NO cap space because their ownership spends to tot he cap to keep players with retirement contracts around for years, inhibiting the team ability to build a winning team

come on man, haven't you figured out the pattern.....1 great season is enough for a leaf player to be great....but if it's a player from another team, if they aren't winning awards every year, they suck....and even if they are, they still suck, cuz they don't play for the leafs.

don't you know that a career back up, with a pretty good 55 game stretch in his only year as a starter, is obviously the greatest goalie who's ever laced them up in the NHL.

so what you're saying is that the leafs spend more, but finish below them in the standings.....while at the same time arguing that your GM isn't imcompetent.

the leaf fans who talked poop for months now have to eat crow since the sens finished ahead of the leafs.

I hate the sens... but did not spout off this season .. it was obvious to some the leafs sucked even when in a playoff spot

And that's why I always said "some" leaf fans.

I never included you and some others when I did so.

It's obvious to everyone here, including yourself and other objective leafs fans, that some leaf fans here are pure haters of everything Senators, and Senator related.

i felt that most leaf fans were atually pretty good most of the year, realizing what the team was, and what it wasn't.

i think most of the "idiots" just happened to find their way to this thread (with some exceptions ofcourse, such as yourself).

You don't think many forwards being injured might have affected their output offensively?

Leafs top-6: Kessel had .45 gpg, JVR had .38, Bozak had .33, Lupul .32, Kadri .26, Raymond, .23....

Now, I don't know exactly who was in Ottawa's top-6... but your best goals/game guy comes in tied for 3rd with the Leafs.

Sounds to me like the Leafs' top-6 might be a tad bit better offensively.

I'm always confused about the shortened season. Seems like, in this thread anyways, what happened in the shortened season is indicative of what should happen over a full season when it relates to the Sens, but means nothing when it has to do with the Leafs.
