You don't have to get so rattled ............. take a deep breath, and just look under the Heading of "other" where Cowen, Gleason & Kessel are listed, along with their 2016 -17 salaries.

If the site is wrong, it's not my fault .............. but please explain where those salaries/buyouts belong, and who is paying them.

In the end these expenses are passed on to the ticket buyers... AKA the highest average ticket price in the NHL.

- D0PPELGANGER

It's not your fault you used it? Its not your fault that after being told you're wrong you still used it?

Da (frank)?

At least he's playing for the team, and playing top four minutes ............ the leafs have 13 MILLION on the books for next season that will not even set foot on the ice.

If it's not hindering their cap why do you care? Such a weak attempt

This site does look a bit more detailed, but now when you add the "Injured Reserve", the "Buyouts ", the "Retained" & the " Buried" salaries for 2016-17, they total almost 13 MILLION ............ which again gets passed of to the ticket buyers.

Considering how gawd awful the leafs have been over the past decade (one playoff appearance) and being the worst team in the entire league last season ........... the cost of correcting(?) the past decade's ineptitude (almost 13M) is not something leaf fans should be lauding as a virtue of the organization.

This should be seen and "rock bottom", so perhaps is a way leaf fans can now see something better from this franchise in the distant future................... but I would not hold my breath.

Well Clarkson (Horton), Robidas and Kessel were all Dave Nonis signings... the current group cant undo those so they have tried to move on ..and get out from under them with some moves...its not easy to undo such incompetence ..and its cant be done is 1 or 2 years as we see.

the managed to get rid of Phaneuf with little collateral damage... that was amazing..didnt think it was possible

Every team in the league ends up with bad contracts at one time or another.

Toronto’ solution to bad contracts: Use any avenue allowed in the CBA to minimize cap impact.

Ottawa's solution to bad contracts: Trade them for an overpaid plyon that will cost them more in the long-term.

Cap hit doesnt matter to a team that never spends up to he cap ,real dollars do .And phaneuf,s deal goes down every year.He is the replacement for Methot ,seeing as per the expansion rule we will likely only have two defenders capable of being unprotected .Methot and Boro .This nonsense about what Phaneuf makes really has no bearing ,we gave up 12 mil in dead cap and took back 7.Add in the 2 mil you guys had already paid him in bonus money ,and the deal makes even more sense

cap hit matters..of course it (frank)ing does...its actually one of the most important things when building a winning team.. allocating the proper dollars ..if you are overpaying Dion to provide you what a 2 or 3 million dollar player can...then you cant pay another player what they deserve..maybe you then lose out on an elite forward.

that has been one of the Leafs biggest problems... and they dumped one of them on the Sens

It does if you can spend to the cap ,ever see Ottawa do this ??The deal makes sense on so many levels for us ,and it works for what you guys want to do .Dont see why its so hard to see this deal for what it was which was a win/win.You guys dollars to avoid a cap hit ,we gained a decent 2nd pairing defender to help our team .At a low dollar cost

Sens are paying $8M in actual salary to a pylon next year.

No matter how you slice it, that’s a very bad thing.

Ottawa has a cap...doesnt matter if its what the league sets or not.. they have a cap
since they choose a number below the NHL cap..it makes it even more important to not (frank) up

read this, and the parts about Team-Level Salary Cap Efficiency ..this is something the leafs have failed at miserably...which is why they sucked

https://mapleleafshotstov...cago-blackhawks-playbook/

dion is one of the worst cap efficent contracts in the NHL..I have no doubt the leafs have been trying for a long time to find a sucker to take him

And again ,we traded our dead cap for a useful player.Ottawa even after they resign their RFA,s should still have over 10 mil in space .Ottawa doesnt care about the cap hit ,only the dollars.Which the leafs paid a big chunk already for us to take him at a price we can live with

This site shows over 7 MILLION in salary being paid, by the leafs, to players not on their roster for 2016 - 17.

Your argument is with this site not me.

You may argue the whether it's Buy out cash, salary retention or whatever ............ the team is paying these players, and they will not be on the roster next season ......... and the cost gets passed on to the ticket buyers.

- D0PPELGANGER

Ticket prices are determined by supply and demand. There is literally no link to player salaries at all. Zero.

if there were, the Sens would have had rock bottom ticket prices for most of their franchise's existence.
