Imagine if this is true

This actually a pretty good article. When Boucher came in he said it would take 6 weeks for the team to understand and play his system effectively. You can see the improvement emerging in a comparison of the 1st 20 games with the 2nd 20 game block played by the Sens. For the first 20 GF/GP was 2.35 and GA/GP was 2.50.

In the 20 games since GF/GP is 2.80 and GA/GP is 2.65.

In the last 10 games Ottawa has been scoring at a rate of 3.00 per game and giving up goals at 2.10.

Boucher's prediction on system improvement in the second half seems to be taking on meaning. The results are showing up in the standings, not yet fully apparent in other stats unless you look for it.

The trend is always the most important than the aggregate reported in time series.

sens PDO in the last 10 games is 102.1. That'll come crashing back down and the sens will go back to having a negative goal differential.

but good try.

You know what isn't good....this awesome write up:

We are moving into stage II of a typical blue koolaid summer. Fans are beginning to notice the stories being floated that Marner might not be fit enough or ready for NHL prime time. Leafs are a last place team, they are sort of like a very young Edmonton crew of last year without McDavid.

But Leaf fans are great hockey fans and now that the silly summer chatter is winding down, they are getting around to a more balanced level of hockey discussion. We will see the Stage III early season euphoria when they win a few games at the beginning of the season and the Toronto based media predicts good things for them. But the Stage III crash into despair will come like clockwork in early December. Stage IV acceptance of reality will include some anger and frustration but it is not long lasting. And, come early March, Stage I starts again with a high degree of hopefulness as speculation of the guaranteed Tavares signing gets ramped up and fans discuss the great potential of the impending lottery and draft.

Sens one of two playoffs teams without a positive gf/ga ratio.

Leafs only team not in the playoffs with a plus differential.

Very telling imo.

Not sure PDO really means anything. It tracks the standings pretty closely but does it tell me something more than goal differential. Ottawa is scoring more goals and giving up less goals than what they were over the first 20 games. So, you would certainly expect a strong PDO.

In the last 10 games the Sens have a goal differential of +9.

It is in line with what Boucher predicted at the beginning of the season. Who would have thought that Karlsson would be leading the league in blocked shots?

You obviously don't understand pdo. It's pretty easy, but not completely straightforward, so I'm not surprised.

Wow! Leafs are +11 in their last 10. Cool story though. Like this one:

Sens will face the Leafs new back up. I expect the Sens to win. And Spatso to be at his best trollorama. Maybe he'll even talk about Laine and the Calder to deflect.

Easy to understand does not mean it has any meaning. Not sure that it tells us or predicts anything of substance. I understand the definitions...not convinced it has any meaning.

Blame the NHL & The NHLPA......... it's the deal they worked out to bring back the WCOH, and that is why the schedule is compressed this season ......... just not as bad when they shutdown the league to go to the Olympics .......... and not to many leaf fans were against the even more compressed schedule that also resulted in MORE b2b games.

So you're saying it's meaningless? You're pro at meaningless.

See below.

- walshyleafsfan

That's just Spatso. Stage 2 is first. Stage 3 has two stages. Stage 1 is last. December is also some form of stage but not actually one of the stages. Stage 5 is stage 4 (maybe. Remember stage 3 has two stages so maybe stage 5 is really stage 6?) and it's the last stage but isn't the last stage because stage 1 is last.

So refreshing to see the young Leafs play like a team. No one is bigger than the crest. Such humility amongst these young lads. A world away from the team 2 or 3 years ago.
