Spatso has a day off tomorrow.

I know this because Sens won Leafs lost.

neither game is over just yet. when you've got young stars in thiless games like zach werenski, auston Matthews, and mitch marner, a 1 or 2 goal lead doesn't equate to a win.

Bad effort for the leafs against a good team. Zib looked really good.

Need to bounce back with a win against a junk team Saturday night.

Zibanejad looked great out there. At least well have to face Brassard instead of him on Sat.

A great defensive game, I might add.

Once again Phaneuf was a beast. He and Hartnell exchanged a lot of lumber in front of the Ottawa net. TSN did a post game short on Phaneuf's warrior attitude and the impact he is having for the Sens in his own end zone. He has been good all year.

There's no need to keep giving Phaneuf a tongue bath, you're never going to convince the leaf fans (here) that the trade (a year ago) has helped Ottawa on the ice. They still seem to think his contract is a problem for Ottawa, because it was in toronto, and they can't wrap their head around that fact.

So unless you're just trying to provoke them on purpose, which is basically sinking to level of behaviour you've admonished others for on this site, there are other reasons for the Senators improved overall play this season than just one player.

Yes indeed, everything you say is true. But last night TSN put together a highlight package showing Phaneuf the road warrior and he deserves some love based on his outstanding play.

His contract is bad. Whether it's a problem right now or not in cap world bad contracts can and often become issues for teams. Whether cap or budget team. Add Ryan to the mix and that's about 14 million in cap space for 2 b list players. Horrible cap and asset management imo.

Leafs are playing better hockey in Phaneufs absence than they have while he was here. His contract wasn't a problem in toronto either. But it was eventually going to be if the Leafs truly hoped to compete.

No need to bring it to the attention of the leaf fans here ........... they too watch TSN and can see this for themselves.

They too watch the game highlights of the leafs rivals for the playoff spots that are up for grabs, and saw the pass made by Karlsson, Condons' save etc etc

You're beginning to go down the "prock path" by trying to convince the leaf fans that Phaneuf is the best D Man in the league, just like prock has tried to convince anyone besides himself, that EK65 is the worst D Man in the league .............. neither is true.

Now your going a bit too far. I don't say Phaneuf just to hurt the feelings of Leaf fans. Sens are having a great season. This is probably their best year in terms of overall play since they went to the Stanley Cup final. And the difference with this team and the past few years is they are playing very good defence. There is no doubt that Karlsson is playing the best hockey of his career. He is clearly the team leader and because of him they are playing their best hockey of the year. But, we should not underestimate the positive influence Phaneuf has been in picking up a share of the leadership and ice time.

Unlike Leaf fans who want the Sens to fail, I hope the Leafs make the playoffs and I would dearly love to see them meet in the first or second round.

Ottawa has three outstanding prospects coming next year in Chabot, White and Brown (three goals last night). I love the Shanaplan and the way Lamerello has executed it. Tired of everybody wanting everybody to fail. Clearly I want the Sens to beat the Leafs, but I don't want the Leafs to fail just because they are the Leafs.

Bahahahahahah

I've never tried to convince anyone, ever, that Phaneuf was the best dman in the league. About 4 or 5 years ago, I said he did not deserve all the criticism he got, as he was taking on the hardest minutes in the league, hardest Qualcomp, etc. But that actually diminished in his time as a Leaf, to the point that he was something like 3rd or 4th in ES TOI per game by the time he was dumped. I still have never said he's TERRIBLE, just that while he'll never be the biggest problem on a team, he's not going to be the solution to anything either. Pretty accurate I'd say, even for the Sens. And let's be honest, his pairing has been a mess for many parts of this season.

And Karlsson, I've never said he's the worst Dman in the league either. Just one of the worst, defensively. He was, for many years. This year, he's probably more towards average, now that his focus isn't points at all cost. But guess what, his points have dropped off. All the crap Sens fans spouted about him being so far better than everyone offensively, I always countered with the fact that he paid no attention to defense, and that's why his point totals were so high. I'd say that's proven true now.

I would think this would give Sens fans a little perspective, on a guy like Doughty, and how he can be top 5 in the league defensively, and STILL put up 45 to 50 points. It takes a truly special dman to do something like that.

correct. And asset/cap/budget management are a big part of winning a cup in the Salary Cap NHL.

I doubt all three, or any, are making the Senator roster next year. A stint in the AHL will do them a world of good.

WOW, did my response to spatso go over your head.

I suggested his (spatso) continuous pumping of Phaneuf's tires was a useless endevour, just as your (prock) continuous bashing of Karlsson is.

Or did you get your two "identities" mixed up ?

Just as I suspected, Clarke MacArthur not going to play in the NHL this year.

Good decision, health should be his first concern.

I'm pretty sure they are. And that Penguins fan as well. They only show up if;

A) Sen's win and Leafs don't
B) Laine scores and Matthews doesn't

Then they blame work.
