I am highly flattered that I seem to draw this never ending stream of dialogue around my thoughts and reflections. I am pretty happy with the comments that I make. Even more content that you should form a study group to follow my musings.

I will of course continue on in providing an objective viewpoint of the Leafs and Senators. Both teams, you will note seem to have significantly exceeded preseason expectations.

I would caution that you not ruin the entire hockey experience for yourselves. It has been a long time the both the Leafs and Senators were playing really good hockey at this point in the season. And, it would appear that there is a strong possibility they will both make and meet in the playoffs. Try not to miss the pleasure of the joy of the hockey because of your being so preoccupied by the speck in your eye.

Look, it is pretty straight forward. The Leafs are the last place team in the league and they are about to discover how little impact a group of 18 and 19 year old players have once the hard pace of the NHL kicks in. This is the normal summer buzz of the blue and white. It is completely gone by Christmas and we will see the same pattern next summer.

Much of the bravado is intended to mask the loser results of the past years. But the scoreboard does not lie. The Leafs had the worst record in the NHL. As they stand right now, they are actually a lot less competitive than what they were at this time last year. So get ready for the same result next year.

Also get ready for a whole bunch more postings on how bad the Sens are. Shame is a toxic emotion. It seeks darkness and the edges of our feelings. It becomes infused with our identity. Most Leaf fans feel trapped by an overwhelming identity with the stain of shame. Shame in this case is not how you feel as a Leaf fan, it is what you are. People begin to think that losing is not just what we do, it is the foundation of our being.

Resentment. Disillusionment. Just plain wrong. Mention this at your AA meetings you give resentment speeches to.

But please. Tell us more about how bad the Leafs are. Got whole bunch more postings on the matter. Shame is a toxic emotion.

I just want to say I'm ready. I'm ready for Christmas and December and all the stages.

This is a perfect example of Boston baked beans and snow melting. In trying to promote discussion around the upcoming draft I clearly said that the Leafs should take Matthews (no ambiguity). But I also said that their are times the 1st pick has been a bust. I was never a fan of drafting Yakupov because he was the oldest birthday in his draft pool. Despite Matthews also being an older kid, I still thought he should be the Leafs first pick.

If you are still reacting to the Yakupov/Matthews parallels from last year it has something to do with the anxiety from back there. But that is okay.

I still find it amusing that Leaf fans want to say that I was wrong about drafting Matthews. I never said they should do anything else.

The Leafs are playing really good hockey. I am in Toronto (Whitby) and watched the game last night. I thought they played really well.

In the context of resentment the comments I made were actually quite precise and entirely accurate.

Thanks tips. But that's just because it's not December and the kool aid hasn't been mixed. And the stages are still being finalized. Get ready!

lol wtf... systemtool has been bumping up all your "objective" viewpoints from the last few months

At this point you sounds like Donald trump ... just keep spewing nonsense and believing the poop you say when your thoughts are clearly documented for all to see.

Just own up to it and say you dont know poop and were praying the Leafs were bad and Matthews was a bust.

I said they would be out of a playoff spot by new years. They were out of one in early Jan. I said they'd be out of playoff contention by the all star break. Could still happen.

And FYI, they lost more games than they won in December..... could still end up even in January.

- prock

No you said they'd be out by XMas, they were not............and out of contention by the all star break, and they're not...... and today you're doubling down on that last predictions.......... so explain, with one game remaining, just how the Sens could drop out of contention?

it should be getting quite clear that the early season wins were only due to the surprisingly easy schedule. the roster clearly doesn't measure up. as originally expected, by Xmas they'll be out of a playoff spot and by all star break out of contention.

- prock

I think your PP% (Prock Prediction Percentage) is trending lower and lower each and every time you post anything about how you see the Senators progressing through the season.

ever notice the only time Prock posts it's either to make asinine predictions that never come true, or to mock spatso for making asinine predictions that never come true.

I guess the internal struggle of multiple personalities is real.

Meh, I also said Karlsson's points would drop way off if he was forced to play defense.

Now that he's not on the ice for historical highs of goals against, he's not remotely close to the league lead in points.

With Nylander reaching 30 points, Leafs now have 6 players with 30 or more points. First team in East to do so. League average is 3.

So you were wrong? Am I getting that correct?

So when Karlsson was scoring more points, and not paying as much attention to his defensive responsibilities ............ you claimed he was NFG.

Now, when he's shifted more towards his defensive responsibilities, and less attention to his offensive game ............ he's still NFG.

So what precise balance between the two sides of his game, would it take for you, as the GM of the leafs, to accept him in a trade for nothing?

You did say that if you were the leafs GM you'd never take him for free, right?

PP% dropping like a lead balloon.

I've never said he was no good. I've said in the past he was terrible defensively. He was. He was scoring points at the expense of playing defense. Yes, he's playing a more defensive game, and I've stated in the past that's a good thing for the Sens. He's less focused on personal accolades, and playing more of a team game.

I just think you guys should have more respect for a guy like Doughty, who many Sens fans hacked on last year. Elite D, and still putting up top 10 point totals (for D). Karlsson is now playing average defensively and look how far his point totals dropped. If he were tasked with playing ELITE defensively, what would he score? 25 points? 30?

Just goes to show you how incredible Doughty's accomplishments are. I think after seeing how hard it is to play even average D and put up points, and how many points a player would have to sacrifice just to up his game from garbage defensively to average, you should agree that Karlsson's Norris trophies should have probably gone to Doughty or Weber.

Isn't his 70 point pace more or less identical to what he's been putting up over the last several seasons anyway?
