Interesting choice by the Sens to start their backup tonight. You'd think they'd be more interested to put some distance between themselves and a divisional rival, and not trying to lose a game to help another team in the chase for the playoffs pass the Leafs.

Or maybe they just don't want to finish too high in the division, out of fear of facing the rangers in the first round.

Either way, questionable coaching.

So you would start an injured goaltender?

Sens starting Condon. They will not do anything to help Leafs stay ahead of Tampa. I don't think Sens start Anderson in any game that involves a team in a fight for the last wild card spot.
- spatso

Don't blame them. I can imagine given the history, the last thing they want is to face the Leafs in the playoffs.

His inconsistency goes beyond the regular ups and downs of a goalie. You can't consistently count on him to be able to start a game. The guy has been injured a lot. Not a trait you want in the guy who's keeping your team together.
- Feeling Glucky?

Please explain how Anderson is "keeping the team together" when he's only played in 30 of the teams 67 games?

Condon has played five more games than Anderson, has worse "numbers" than Anderson, but you continue to insist that Anderson is the reason the Senators have the eighth best record in the NHL.

How does that make any sense, to anyone besides yourself.

Are you now going to suggest that Condon is "hot" of Lucky" when he plays, and Anderson is also when he plays?

Sorry, but other than Chris Neil & Chris Kelly, no one has faced the leafs in the playoffs, as the leafs have only played 7 Played 7 playoff games in the past 12 seasons.

IF the leafs do make the playoffs........... they'd only play four games, and every team in the Eastern Conference would welcome them in the first round.

Like I said earlier(which you took exception to), Condon got hot at the right time.

I don't think he's a good goalie, but even garbage goalies, like the famous Hamburglar can get hot for a while.

I think, looking at the rest of the roster, it's pretty safe to count them out when figuring out why the team is having an up year. Ottawa's #1C would be in a fight with the Leaf's 4th line C for that spot. Let that sink in.

4 games of the playoffs would be a success for this team, no doubt. It is very impressive that such a young team can do so well. It is a sign of great things to come, that a team led by a bunch of kids under the age of 21/22 can do so much.

As a Sens fan, you have to remember that your organization's goal is 3 or 4 home games revenue this year, while the Leaf's goal, as an organization, is a cup within 3 years.

So, we are both allowed to be happy, the sens get some playoff revenue to help the bottom line this year, and the Leafs take some major steps towards winning a cup.

Everyone is happy right?

I hear Melnyk has some great upgrades to his summer/permanent home planned, if the Sens make the playoffs.

Wouldn't want to disappoint him!

And, you know the current Sens roster is over the cap.

Your so lost in your alternate belief system you even misunderstand your own point of view.

And the Leafs taking a step towards winning a Cup...how many years, how many false alarms have we listened to around that story?

But if it makes you feel better, your not hurting anyone by promoting your brand of false hope.

Brand of false hope - That is an interesting comment coming from the poster who believes the sens are set up for a deep playoff run.

Do you feel the sens have a shot at the cup?

Sens actually have 4M in cap space, and are actually paying even less, because they took on high-cap, low salary players like Phaneuf. This is a move typical of budget teams that want to convince low-intelligence fans that they aren't actually a budget team.

I disagee strongly.

Even low-intelligent fans can see past Melnyk's smoke and mirrors accounting.

Only the boderline brainless are fooled by this.

Last night the Leafs, especially Kadri and Rielly, looked about as ugly as a forward and Dman could. This is not a good team. This kind of game does not look very good for next year.

Seriously. It was a huge error for the Leafs to let Phaneuf go in a trade to Ottawa. Obviously the Leaf defence is bad and getting worse. Young guys have no mentor to help them learn the NHL game. Reilly has become a disaster and the Leafs need to get back to the drawing board.

I never ragged on him f9r his plus minus. man, did they forget to build schools in Ottawa? learn to read.

I think it's ridiculous that sens fans tried to argue he was good defensively when he was getting amazingly cushy zone deployment, rather easy competition on average, and still managed to be on the ice for far more goals than any other player in the league at 5 on 5.

trying to argue that's a good defensive player is a farce. Karlsson was arguably the worst defensive dman on the whole league.

he's improved though, I'll give credit where credit is due. with the sens new focus on d, he's arguably most brought himself up to average. still below average, but hey not the AHL player in his own zone he used to be.

Perhaps you need to spend more time thinking about the total mess the Leafs have on their back end.

Ottawa's worst (plus/minus) Center is their fourth liner, Chris Kelly at -13
toronto's first line center, the great Kadri, is a -12

I see you're totally leaving the so called toronto defense alone.

The leafs most hyped D Man, Morgan Reilly went a minus five last night .......... first leaf D Man to do that since Brian "the canopener" McCabe .......... Reilly would not even make Ottawa's top 6 D men, and would probably be exposed in the expansion draft...... he would most likely be safe with a minus 22 rating though.

Dion Phaneuf is only a minus 5 .............. but that's only due Ottawa's lucky hot back up goaltender, right?
