I believe the Senators have the best record in the East for the month of March.

Ouch! That is stomping on them pretty hard. I prefer to humour them. When you hit them hard like that they tend to go away and sulk.

Hey everybody! Just ignore the 1,000 post steaming pile of crap of wrongness that I spewed on here. I was just … errr…. Trolling. Yeah, that’s it trolling. and sometimes basic math is hard.

But please remember that one post about the bruins that I was sort of not wrong in hindsight. Well, you know, because I remember it. Please! Do you remember too!?!

But I don’t have to be right, that’s why I always point out the times that I was close to being right.

Anyways, if you guys don’t stop pointing out all my mistakes, which are just 99% of my posts, I’m going to keep making sexist comments on here to prove you all wrong!!!

In looking at any model of random chance, probability is assumed as a measurable outcome. So when you flip an equally balanced coin, it is assumed that the outcome is 50/50 on it coming up heads or tails. If you flip the coin 5 consecutive times and it comes up heads every time the odds always remain 50/50 for it coming up heads on the 6th flip. But, it is also assumed that if you continue to flip the coin 1000 times in total it will come up a notional 50/50 between heads and tails.

So, when a team has a very good run (as Columbus did) you also need to know that after 11 consecutive wins they will move back to the norm once the winning streak levels off and they will give back numbers to meet their normative capacity.

There's honestly no point in these types of posts. The facts are what they are, Ottawa is struggling right now. You trying to deflect attention from that doesn't change the facts.

They have 1 regulation win in their last 6 games. If you feel good about that trend, going into the playoffs, more power to you. No amount of logical arguments or facts have ever been able to sway you.

- Feeling Glucky?

Now I doubt very much that you're watched any of those six games ..... I have, and the only thing that is struggling, is the Ottawa PP.

Otherwise Ottawa has been in all but one of those six games, 5 of the 6 were decided by 1 goal, and they have 6 points out of a possible 12 to show for it.

That is not struggling, that's just how tight these games were ......... 5 of the 6 were vs playoff teams, 4 of the 6 were vs teams higher in the overall standings.

As much as you want the Senators to actually be struggling, as I'm sure you pray every night for it to be true, the fact of the matter is that Ottawa is securely in a Playoff spot and not in a position to play "must win games" every night to squeak into the playoffs ........... like the leafs, Bruins and Islanders are ........... three teams for just two playoff spots.

The leafs play 4 non playoff teams, in their next 5 games, and should be in control of their destiny as far as a playoff spot is concerned, but they can't afford to let up in any of those games....... and the last four games include 3 vs the top three teams in the Conference.

I guess because the leafs have one more win in their last 10 games (7 2 1) than the Senators (6 2 2) do, means their struggling, right?

So I guess the leafs are just on the cusp of struggling, right?

thanks for pointing out that I transposed the two numbers

32 Regulation wins for Ottawa / .571 W% in games that end in Regulation
28 Regulation wins for leafs / .549 W% in games that end in Regulation

As soon as the Senators are done in the playoffs, I don't watch anymore playoffs until the Finals, and then only the possible Cup clinching game.

That's because they've played more games that ended in regulation.

Ottawa has 32 Regulation wins, and 24 regulation losses, for 56 games total.
That's a .571 winning percentage in games that end in regulation.

The leafs have 28 Regulation wins, and 23 regulation losses, for 51 games total.
That's a .549 winning percentage in games that end in regulation.

fixed (thanks)

- D0PPELGANGER

Sens have lost more games than the Leafs in regulation. It's a fact. No context needed. It is just a fact. Same as the Sens have won more than the Leafs. They cancel each other out.

Once you take the shootout and game of shinny away, Leafs are harder to beat, is what those stats tell me.

You are actually correct. Good job!

And the advantage of using advanced stats is they show us what we can expect from a team. For example, if a team has a good record, but bottom of the barrel advanced stats, we know we can expect them to regress. And the opposite is true as well.
