Are you bonkers???
The LA and NY fine dining scenes alone obliterate anything this shabby country has to offer. - Pikey
meh... to be honest, I'm not really interested in the gourmet 5 gram meal restaurants anyways, so if America has better micro-food, good for them. When it comes to going to a restaurant and just having a better meal, I've found the restaurants in Canada much better. |

This is the first time I've ever heard someone from a foreign country criticize American cuisine as being too meager, portion-wise.
It's like anywhere Glucks, you know someone there or it's your own city and you can find lots of anything you like. You travel to a town like SF and your options end up seeming like Town Hall or some crap-shack. Both are the easiest places to find anywhere.
I can name 5 US cities (including Buffalo) off the top of my head where I could order amazing food for you until you begged me to stop. But none of them are obvious. |

This is true, no doubt.
Actually, in San Francisco we went to Tommy Toys... gotta say, "meh"... and it's my understanding from our hosts that it's one of the better restaurants in the city |

It's a Chinese Restaurant with an American name though, man. It was tricky 'cause you guys were down in Union Square (you'll remember what I had to say about that) but TT's prolly not one of the places I'd choose, all in all. Walzwerk (German), Town Hall (soul food), Blowfish (sushi) all awesome but also all kind of far away and/or in somewhat seedy neighborhoods. So they didn't really fit.
Come to think of it, Town Hall is sort of in the same neighborhood, but it's the kind of place I only go if someone else is paying (preemptive *not code)
Then again, I'm not wild about Chinese food (preemptive *not racist) aside from some dim-sum before drinking anyhow so I'm prolly not the best judge there.
The SF Chronicle did a story last year that said basically there were so many restaurants in SF that you could eat at a different place every night for 7 years before repeating once. It's paralyzing - too many options. |

See... that's the thing, I'd hardly call it chinese food... the next night we went to a chinese place on the edge of chinatown, because some1 on the street handed us a coupon and we were hungry, and wound up with a much better meal
Once I start making more money, I'm gonna tour some of the restaurants in TO, there are some interesting looking ethnic places I wanna try out. |
