this is all about maple smoked bacon. maple and bacon, individually, are ok.

i usually freeze bacon as soon as i buy it to ensure a longer shelf life. if i accidentally buy maple bacon i will rinse it and then put it in the oven under the keep warm setting (therefore not cooking it) before freezing it in order to minimize the maple factor

the freezing thing is a good idea though

but tell me how you do this. do you separate the slices at all? do you thaw before cooking?


im very impatient and not good at planning ahead so the mere thought of thawing is hard for me to do

i cling wrap them in packs of 3 strips, and put them in a large ziplock freezer bag before freezing them (after rinsing and keep warming if maple)

if i don't have time to thaw when i'm ready to cook, i just microwave the 3 strips for 30 seconds before baking them in the oven.

you can't tell they've been frozen. you can't tell they were mapled. baking bacon is the way to go. 400 for 12-15 minutes. best bacon.

i rarely make the mistake of buying maple so the rinsing issue does not come up regularly. but again, (frank) maple bacon.

It does a good job. Always line a baking sheet with aluminum foil so you can just throw it away then
