so i was thinking about that olive garden disaster and it made me want a nice burger even more so last night i had some place called Crust & Fire bring me their finest whiskey bacon burger and some really good onion rings.

i WILL be ordering from there again. the burger and fries were awesome and the onion rings (while i ordered them because they were called "sweet red onion rings" and they were just regular onions in there) were yuge and real thick and crunchy.

I have no idea what eateries in your area might offer it, but if you've never tried it, I highly recommend trying peanut butter on your next burger.

It'll pretty much go with the other usual toppings and condiments, especially bacon, cheese, and mayo. But I usually hold off on any mustard or pickles (not a fan of the latter on my burgers anyway).

There are actually recipes for mixing it into the meat before cooking, but I never tried that when I cook my own. I'm just happy to slather a bit on top of the patty when assembling the sandwich.

I was a naysayer for years but one day I said, "What the hell, what do I have to lose except maybe the contents of my stomach?" I'm glad to done it. You'd be surprised what PB goes well with. Consider how it's an essential ingredient of the traditional dish of Pad Thai (interesting evolution for such long-loved dish, since peanuts are a New World vegetable).

In general, I also was a fussy eater, even as a young adult. Then one day, just like a switch, I became more adventurous in my quest for culinary delights. I can't say why. I just became open minded about it and about a lot of other things. Maybe one day when I grow up, I'll suss it out.

I also love you like a brother, and yes I agree Jif is the best big brand (over PP and Skippy), but Peanut Butter & Co. is my go-to brand these days (when I can get it for a favorable price). Smooth Operator, The Bee's Knees, and White Chocolatey Wonderful are my top three favorite flavors from them, in that order.

Unfortunately, I used to get it via Amazon Subscribe & Save program, but those flavors are no longer eligible, and the other prime offerings are too expensive to get regularly. So now it's usually the generic offerings from whatever store I go to when I have it on my list. Usually that's Publix (which offer an organic version for a good price).

i jut read one of those articles about who makes what for whom and it said to buy walmart's peanut butter if your brand is peter pan because they come out of the same factory.

and i agree about not actually knocking it til you try it.

i don't remember what it was but my mother had a recipe we'd been eating for years before i knew grape jelly was somehow in the recipe. it was some kind of dish that you'd never expect jelly to be involved in. like a meat dish or something.

OMG, did i mention that the chicken chips got here?! were you the non-believer? it turns out i really like them. i don't know about the other flavors but with the himalayan salt it really makes it taste like chicken skin to me. and let's face it, the skin's the best part.

and the crunch factor is high too.
