I was talking to a girl who's beer crazy yesterday, she suggested that drinking the 120 was one of those things you needed to do at least once in your life.

unfortunately the only place I know that has it charges $20/glass

It's basically barelywine-like. If you like that kind of stuff or Belgian trappists you'll probably like this.

Yes it is VERY expensive.

I've never tried barley wine... I was under the impression that it's sweet-ish, no?

As for the Trappist ales, I like them, but I gotta say, I'd be surprised if an IPA tasted like one, those are also sweeter beers, from my experience...

yesterday I had a Propeller ESB, and tasted a Dogfishhead Raisin D'Etre. both tasted rather good. the Raisin is more of a dessert beer though.

Wish we had that here.

I'm considering ordering some online

Dogfish Head has a few beers that sound really interesting, the 120, Pangea, Midas touch, Jihau, and the Fort.

Really?
I once saw Dogfish Head on "How the best is done" and have been dying to try it since.

I don't consider it sweet. It's a pale on crack that's over 15%. I only made the trappist/barely-wine comparison due to its power. It's still an IPA.

EDIT: .....AND when I'm allowed to drink again I'm going to waste $100's of dollars buying cases of it and beers of similar power.
