Every bit of luxury you enjoy as a Westerner has been provided courtesy of the free market. That socialism has taken this long to implode is a testament to the power of free markets.

They create money out of thin air by lending to one another, they do not have the amount of money they lend, they are forced to deal in fiat currency, the BoC throws Canadians out of work to control inflation. In case you didn't notice, our country is going down the tubes too. Just more slowly.

I took a very long hard look at living in Finland. I was impressed, but also alarmed. It works well, assuming nobody tries to compete with the government, and while you get your schooling paid for at every level, the government decides what type of schooling you are allowed to take based on the sort of aptitude you show as a child.

Personal freedoms are given up to a large degree, but provided everyone is okay with that, it works.

I doubt people here are willing to do that.
