I do get the impression that all the NHL teams operate sort of like the government. They keep people on the payroll who actually know about the business and those people are very steady (like civil servants). The GMs, Presidents and other hockey people - who come and go - know nothing about business and could easily be replaced by a rock (the politicians).

Or maybe I'm wrong and Darryl Sutter is a genius.
