Mark Wahlberg was flat-out the best part of The Departed, even with his limited screen time.

I personally wish Dicaprio would stay away from the 'gritty' type roles. He just doesn't really pull it off well.

Inception made $61M by the way. not too bad at all for an entirely original film. Going to take a big hit next week with Salt though.

You're wrong. It's not always about the twist, M. Nyght Shamalan taught us that years ago. It's about the delivery, and Scorsese and Dicaprio understand that. The attention to detail in that movie, the visuals, the score, the cinematics, and especially the acting, Shutter Island is a great movie in so many ways.

Obviously Leo is crazy, but what makes it so compelling is that he makes you believe that there could be some doubt, even to the very end. Frankly his performance in Shutter Island is 10x better than his performance in Inception.

The delivery was terrible. It was slow and obvious and the philosophical discussions sounded like they were written by a tenth grader who just picked up a book on Kant.

The only thing Shamalamadingdong ever showed us is that he got lucky with the Sixth sense (which was entirely about the plot twist).

I agree with your take on M.Night Chumbawumba though. 6th Sense sucked except for the twist, Signs was boring and predictable, The Village was absolute crap...no point going on really. Unbreakable was ok but could have been so much better. Most overrated director ever.
