n-word please. weddingc cost much more than $50 a heads (most might be around 15-20k and thats on the cheap). No one is looking to get it paid for, just people to responsibly gift. Of course there are places where $100 may be adequate (especially when factoring in currency rates). In the great city of Philadelphia, $50 a person won't cut it but it might in, say, West Virginia. For instance, I went to a Friday wedding at a cheaper hall. Not only did the bridal party not spring for an open bar, but rather NO BAR. How can I celebrate a wedding if I'm not throwing up on the maid of honor's lap? For that reception, the $100 seemed like a lot.

and thats the right way to do it. No one leaves sober, not even children (if invited). hopefully your guests don't throw you a $10 bill in the card. I think my wedding we had a couple of people under gift and a few people WAY over-gifted so it balanced out to where it probably should have. Only one deadbeat too
