kick i had the bulleit rye but i was too hammered to notice what it tasted like, then the 2nd one had ginger ale in it.

i will vouch for their bourbon but my palate sucks and i dont know what people mean by smoky when they describe alcohol.

i did stare at the new big size bottle of bulleit's bourbon when i was back in the liquor store today. but i just bought the gift i was in there for and the bushmills i wanted to try.

i also saw glenlivet on sale for like 32 bucks which is a really good price but i can't spend any more money. i saw a hundred things i wanted to buy in there but i acted like a grown up and stopped myself.

i went in 2 stores today that were 3 miles apart to compare some prices and was blown away by how the selections were so different.

i looked at jeremiah weed and buffalo trace in one store and the other didn't have either.

i looked at the speyburn scotch and the jim beam rye dave told me about in the other store and the first store didn't have either of those.

how am i supposed to compare that way?

reading some of the reviews on different sites and it sounds right up my alley

Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a deep-deep brown almost pitch black color with a two finger tan head. The head has great retention. It eventually fades to give a nice level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweeter chocolate aroma. This is mixed with lighter hints of caramel and coffee. Taste – The taste starts out a bit on the sweeter-maltier side. A caramel brown bread flavor meets the tongue. The roasty bready and caramel flavors persist to the middle of the taste where they are met with a cocoa and coffee flavor. The caramel then begins to fade. This ends up leaving a pleasant cocoa-coffee flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body is on the medium side for both creaminess and carbonation. The body could use a bit more thickness, but the carbonation is fitting. Overall – The transitions from sweeter to more roasty are nice in this brew. While not the greatest body it is easy to drink and makes for a good session porter if that is what you are feeling.

Hangar One Chipotle Vodka. Has some heat, but more sweetness than a peaty smoke. Flavor upfront is vanilla (real vanilla, not vanilla extract) that blends into a clean vodka taste with a chipotle kick at the end. Sometimes when I don't feel like waking up smelling of scotch the next day I have 2 fingers of that with a big ice cube.

Recco you keep an eye out in bars (likely snooty ones, to be frank). Ask for it with light ice and drink it quickly (small cubes melt too fast and dilute it).

it actually is woodford reserve.

i think it's usually like 36 here but i got it on sale. i think it was 26 bucks.

it's good. i throw 3 small cubes in it. it's got a real interesting taste to me.
