Habs fans in heat

No not really. I'm quite level headed even with this trade. My point is you shouldn't be throwing stones when you yourself live in a glass house.

gainey is running this storied franchise into the ground, maybe they need dibs on the first french canadian pick every year (that ended in the 70's) to be actually good again.

here is a short list of gaineys blunders

souray
ribiero
streit
ryder
trading away the future for a 2nd line center with no size and makes 8 million a year for another 5 years which they could have resigned koivu who is better for probably 4 million.
letting kovelev, koivu, tanguay and lang test free agency
develope komiserik into the player he is today to let him test free agency

im sure there is more, gainey, you should retire already!

ah what am i saying, keep him there, im a bruins fan!

Gainey did a great move.... why because NOBODY WANTS TO SIGN IN MONTREAL

hey, before you freak out let me say this...

NOBODY WANTS TO SIGN IN TORONTO

Therefore Gainey and Burke need to either acquire players that nobody really wants, or they overpay or they develop.

So that being said Gomez is the best player on your team and would have been last year...

Yes you guys have some good young talent but why not get a guy like this to at least attract a big time winger

What winger wants to sign with a team that doesn't have a player to dish him the puck?

Gomez is a great two way center and is a good playmaker and extremely good skater.

Its not as bad as the media is making it.

Now that we freed up cap space for the rags, they will throw money at a free agent who won't mesh

Stones? I threw none, just made a comment on how your colleague shouldn't be taking shots at other teams in the midst of all this turmoil. And even then I didn't say anything negative about Gomez. Apology accepted .

lets try this again without the SCALR

ignoring the desperation on NYR's part, we were desperate for a forward who will put up more than 60 points. Higgins and McD isnt THAT huge of a price right?

- muffin_man

right !

McD was still a project... and we all know how projects end up in MTL.

Like i say, i dont mind Gomez as a player. Cap hit and salary is a bit high... but if he delivers, all of this will be forgoten.

Someone with an 8 mil a year salary should get 90 pts a year at least and Gomez will never get that.

You're absolutely right. But this has to be followed by a signing or two of a top 6 winger and defencemen. Not to mention re-signing Kovy and Tanguay...otherwise, this move alone will be a disaster.

Still we got the better player out of that trade .. for next year that is... we dont know about McD yet. Not doing playoff here would make habs fans insane and yet they go berserk after the GM for making the team better next year.
