Ok kids, can I have your attention please?! If you're going to come in here and make fun of the Habs, you better make sure you're a fan of an elite organization like the Pittsburgh Penguins or Detroit Red Wings. Ok? Otherwise please stfu and get the fcuk outta here! Thank you!

YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. But Gainey is a clown, and panicked...probably was drunk when talking to Sather ....
- pghoche

This must mean the Molson's agreed to this. What is going on here? Are they high of their own supply?

Under that logic, will he be worth 4.5million in 3 years? use the cap hit is all i am saying...
- donkeykong79

Cap hit is 7.3... what's your point? I like the player, but anybody has the right to think the 7.3 cap hit not worth. People have been generally saying that for years, I don't see how it changed today.

EDIT : I really do like Gomez... Not the deal, that's all. I'm still waiting to see what will happen next before saying that Gainey needs to be fired. I don't think it's the case.

Why are people acting like Gainey would have been able to sign players for market value tomorow? Canadian teams have to overpay all the time. Were not getting any UFAs for what their really worth on July 1st.. you heard it here first

Look im not debating that he isnt overpaid, and by about 1.5mil, but we can afford it.. so what? 1.5mil overpaid today is a 1.5mil not spent overpaying tomorow...

Stick to your Sens. They ain't any better than the Habs right now. Terrible deal? Tell that one to Murray who traded away Corvo and Eaves for two guys who walked on you.
- JoeStar1

For the record - Corvo told a reporter that he didn't like to play in Canadian cities as the pressure is too much - hence he was gone asap. Eaves was/is injury prone...

The Senators made that trade to shake things up and help prevent a disastrous end to the season - didn't work - at all.

The Canadiens on the other hand are loading their sinking ship with Gomez - that's only going to take them to the bottom.

I don't think, however, that Bryan Murray will get much more in return for Heatley. No chance that some team is going to give away what BM wants for a player he desperatley needs to get rid of...

WHAT? You have to be joking?

Destroying what team? The team that barely made the playoffs only to get their asses handed to them by a much better, and way more SKILLED hockey club.

What Gainey is doing is improving this team, and to do that it gets costly. We lost a D prospect, who cares. We have enough of them.

We have a better #1 C then we have had in years people. IN YEARS!

Give it a rest people. Gainey is going to fix this team up. I like the acquisition. If we are going to compete it'll be with skilled forwards. And yes he is expensive, but not as much as Vinny would have been and we would have lost a hell of alot more prospects.

We're better with Gomez as our #1 compared to any of our C's from last year. SO enough with this bashing Gainey stuff. HE is doing a fine job now. Keep improving the team Bob, I support you!

I don't get why people are that mad about the deal. Sure, Gomez has underachieved and has a huge cap hit, but when he's on, boy he's on. He has a great shot, great speed and is a true playmaker.

Higgins never would have performed in Montreal and McDonagh is the true piece in the deal.

Edit: I must be way off, everyone hates this deal.

You have zero hockey knowledge at all, we treat kovalev like he is kovalchuk, so before you call us the worst fans at least know what your saying makes sense, have fun missing the playoffs again douchebag.
- habsfan4life*

I guess I won't be taking you to any games in my reds then....I'm glad to hear that YOU respect Kovalev, but clearly you're very sheltered if you think he is treated fairly in this city. Again, tell yourself what you want...

GOOD NEWS ALERT!!!!!!!

I respect people that think we lost this trade, I can see it, but IMO it was fair. Time will tell. McDonagh has done nothing but regressed since we drafted him. Surpassed by Goloubef and gardiner (younger, and lower drafted, on his own team).

Higgins well, I don't ever think he will turn into a sniper. You either have that quality or you dont.

But look at the good news!!! The remparts have drafted Alexander Avtsin in the CHL import draft. Is there a better QMJHL organization to lure europeans to the Q then Patty Roy and his posse? Maybe he knows something that we don't

Has all the justifying the trade sunk in yet? I see a lot of people calling Macdonagh not even a sure hit all of a sudden. Saying he hasn't come along as hoped, how long has he been used in the argument of prospect pools between the Habs and Leafs?

Pretty bad trade, but you never know, Gomez might tear it up in a new market. The crappy thing is, the new market is the hardest to play in.

Not to sound like a broken record but it is clear player do not want to sign in Montreal as UFA's. Look at recent years for evidence. So to get 1st line players Gainey needs to make trades etc...

So obviously Gainey has been looking to make a deal. All you delusional Habs fans wanted Vinny. Do you have any idea what that would have cost? There is a reason why Gainey did not pull the trigger. I mean it would have cost any package of Higgins, Plekanec, Pacioretty, Markov, Subban, McDanagh, draft picks etc. It would have totally crushed the roster...

With this Gomez deal all you lose off the roster is Higgins. And maybe Gainey can get lucky and sign someone like a Gionta, or Samlsson from Detroit etc...And then he can resign maybe Kovalev or Tangauy...

This was a good move by Gainey in my mind. Like I said before, the only way to upgrade the team is through trade bc top guys always snub the Habs even when good offers are made, ala Briere...And all of you complaining about McDanagh. The kid is a prospect thats it. He is not a blue chipper that you know is gonna pan out. It is a coin flip and fact is he has taken steps back from what I have read. If he does pan out it will not be for like 3 seasons. Would you have been willing to deal with the roster the way it is, not sign any UFA's and wait for McDanagh in 3 years and lose Higgins eventually anyways...

Nothing makes you Habs fans happy, even a deal that instantly upgrades your roster!...You complain about the cap hit but they have the money to spend it on him, and have enough young guys to still have space available to sign a RFA like Kovalev or try to make a splash but inticing someone like Hossa to come play with a top play maker like Gomez. I just do not get you Habs fans at all...You cry that Gainey has not done anything, he finally does, and you cry like babies, even when the deal benefits your team. Thank God for you Habs fans, because it gives us other fans something to laugh at when our teams bounce out in the playoffs or miss the playoffs.
