Me too. I don't want to be #5 in the NE anymore.

If Gomez is the start of something big, then it'll be an alright season in Montreal next year.

If Gomez is all that happens, we'll be seeing someone else watching the team from the GM's box come november.

Yup. Well, I'm out
Good luck on tomorrow.

Ek:
Jaybo cap hit to be 6.3
sedins resigned ...... - maybe.

He's a joke.

Anyways, much better plan B then Briere, it is obvious that Lecavalier will remain a lightning for the next 11 years. Tampa will have problems keeping all of their players and be competitive because of that salary.

The habs priorities are now a winger and top dman.

My wishlist: wingers: havlat, hossa, gaborik, Nolan
dman: beauchemin

Honestly, it wasn't that bad of a trade.
- twiztedmike

I think if u look at this trade without looking at the salaries, its a great trade for montreal. its jus gomez's salary thats hard to take. give gomez a winger though and i think ud have a great line. maybe hes the guy to light a fire under kovalev. theyd be deadly with gomez's speed and kovys skill. i think in the long run habs fans will be glad this deal was made ps. habs fans hurt burkes feelings at he draft by booing him, he said torontos gonna boo habs worse when the draft is in TO. i guess his dad is stronger than ur dad

I agree. The salary makes it bad, BUT the Habs have tons of room. They have tons of young players and its not a big issue. By the time Gomez's contract is ending, and the Habs are pursuing more high-priced talent, the cap may very well go up.

McDonagh who was touted as a future NHLer, Valentenko who now plays in the KHL and will likely not being coming back to North America, and Doug Janik who is at best described as a journeyman d man.

No the question is why a GM brings in more money against the cap when the team is already right up against it.
- Connor603

Because it made our defense MUCH better and the team as a whole much better. If you make a trade and it makes your team better, I feel it is a good deal.

So Gomez is a good deal because of the habs need for an upgrade down the middle?
