Would of rather had that koivu guy out of Montreal.

This trade is stupid for a few reasons.

1. It isn't much of an upgrade over koivu
2. Koivu bleeds for Montreal and would of signed for 4.5-5
3. Signing Koivu would of left us with Higgins still. Higgins upside isn't far off from Gomez
4. You don't give up top prospects when your helping a team rid a bad contract
5. Koivu + Higgins >>>>>>> Gomez

Gainey should be let go, before does anything else

With the 7.3 mil off the books in NY, they will sign Komisarek. Book It!
We just traded Komisarek to the Rangers as part of this deal.

I believe Zubov as some great hockey left in him... and I prefer Zubov over Schneider.

We should have insisted that they throw in Redden.

Zubov hasn't played a full season in a few years. Too many kinks in the armour for the old man......( even though Schneids is old i think)

Hossa will be a Han. Between 7-8 mil over 5-7 years.

Announced at 12:10.

I would have much preffered to go after the Sedins than Gomez and Hossa.

Agreed.
Sportnet just said that the Habs focus is now on Hossa. A guy Martin and Timmins both drafted and grew in Ottawa....not to mention Havlat aswell.
Imagine getting both?

As long as Pierre Gauthier tells him that it's 12:00 p.m. eastern, we should be O.K.

Might be another trade announcement before then?

That's the sad part. We will need to make a trade to make this happen but as you can see by the first trade....we will overpay BIG time on any deal we make.

Beauchemin won't be a Hab.

We need a tough rugged Dman. We have Hamrlik Gorges Markov and Obyrne. Where is the toughness in that lineup? We need a Komisarek is what we need.
We are going to have a VERY soft D corps next year.

Man, I'm really just like every other Habs fan...

I've been asking all season for the core of this team to be changed and yadda yadda yadda.....

Now that it's happening, I'm complaining and defending Koivu.... Good God, we Habs fans are a ridiculous bunch.
