Gainey should be fired immediately - ThrashEm
stop for a minute and evaluate this. this is not the worst trade ever. you give up higgins...a player whose confidence is broken, who hasn't scored as many goals as his potential makes us believe. losing McDonagh isn't a huge deal. gainey was critized for giving away a young prospect (balej) for kovalev....where is that prospect? you gain a better player in gomez, just at a highly inflated market value. the vinny deal is a dream, just like the lotto, which many players hit having just one great year. |

Although his cap hit is what concerns most of us here, I do agree with Gomez being a very effective player for the Habs. Can't deny that the kid's got talent. - JoeStar1
Have you seen his contract--the Rangers were having trouble giving him away. Terrible deal for the Habs. Is Gainey going after Redden next?

Lecavalier? - blarneylad
I never put Vinny on the level some HAbs fans did but at least he has some intangibles, like size, and he fights now and then and is a good leader. |

The more I digest the more I agree with you here a bit. We still have some cap space to do some things. We need to make sure we have enough left when price becomes an RFA |

Not sure I like giving up McDonough.
That is what I do not like... more than anything in this deal.
Will see who he gets on the wing to play with him... if he can get someone to put the puck in the net, perhaps this is not too bad.
Again, I will reserve judgment until all is said and done.

Come off it.
Gomez is a great hockey player. When we traded Roy we got nothing in return of value. At least we're getting an elite playmaker. - blarneylad
sorry man...im not being an ass or anything...but gomez is far from elite...this is just a bad trade plain and simple...it happens....we sens land are waiting for our bad return for heatley....at least we know its coming though...this was out of knowhere... |

*starting to calm down, and tries to justify the trade*
He did excel in a defensive system in Jersey..... Right? I mean we won't fire this coach after 1.5 seasons and change direction.....Right?
Koivu= 5'10. 195
Gomez= 5'11 195
*starts to pray*
*Oh lord almighty give me the sight to recognize the good in all situations. Grant me the strength to accept the situation as a good happening*
Fire Gainey. |

Stick to your Sens. They ain't any better than the Habs right now. Terrible deal? Tell that one to Murray who traded away Corvo and Eaves for two guys who walked on you. |

I really wish everyone would shut the *@#$ up with all their negativity! I'm not a huge fan of Gomez but all you bandwagon jumpers with "Montreal will miss the playoffs for the next 10 years" b.s. are really starting to tick me off. Isn't this team only one year removed from finishing with the best record in the East? Calling Gainey Houle is just plain ridiculous, he's a smart man and will make the right moves to ensure this team bounces back from this past season and is more competitive and more consistent next year. - DRIVE425
Here here!!! Finally an actual FAN of the Habs. Good for you. |
