it's just a gimmick.
when he was curmudgeonly i gave him a hard time but we were actually best friends in the world. when he "quit" the website and had them kill his username and all i went to all the hockey websites i could find looking for him. i actually would just walk in and say "i'm looking for a guy named marty" and after a little detective work (which consisted of the follow up "his avatar is probably larry robinson") it actually worked.

little known fact:
on one of the sites i checked i was mislead by some guy who was just having fun with me. he said marty was there and he's pretty sure it's the guy i'm looking for and all that jazz but he was just making it all up.
however, that actually did turn out to be the site where marty was so i'm glad the guy kept me there typing with him or i may have just moved on to other sites and then i never would have found him. |
